Nanbu Works recently announced some big updates for their game, formerly known as *Indomitable Blade*. It’s now been renamed *The Land of Seidr*. They’ve also pushed back the release date from 2025 to 2026.
We first wrote about this game in 2024 when Nanbu Works revealed Yoshimi Kudo would be composing the music. Since then, they’ve also brought on Kuen, the illustrator behind Urban Myth Dissolution Center, to design the game’s user interface and items.
Check out the brand new trailer and details for The Land of Seidr below! The game will launch on PC through Steam in both Japanese and English. The trailer also suggests it might come to Nintendo Switch. If you’re attending Tokyo Game Show 2025, you can try a hands-on demo at booth 10-C09.
Story
The people of Horn and Lausram are at war. The protective barrier around Horn’s homeland, Greusdal, has fallen, and a large Lausram army is now moving forward.
The Horn people were skilled warriors and approached the battle with confidence, each clan eager to prove its power. Freyja, the leader of the Solskog clan, was among them. Little do they know, a terrible danger lies hidden beyond the damaged defenses.
This isn’t a game about dramatic turnarounds or powerful weapons that save the day. It’s a story set in a broken world, filled with people who have lost hope. It asks the question: even when everything you believe in is gone, can you find the strength to keep going?
Strategy
As a fan, I’m really excited about the combat in this game! It’s totally different because you can attack *anything* on an enemy – not just their health. So, if someone’s really heavily armored, you can focus on breaking their defense. Or, if they’re hitting super hard, you can try to weaken their strength. It means you really have to think about *how* you fight and adapt to each enemy to survive those tough battles!
This game features a combat system where everything can be targeted and damaged. Even the strongest characters will become weaker as their stats are reduced.
This game features a streamlined design, letting you finish each map in roughly 10 to 15 minutes. It offers engaging strategy without requiring a huge time commitment.
Allies who fall in battle never revive. Each move by the player determines their fate.
Squad Management Under Pressure
Units naturally get weaker as they take damage in battle, and while healing can restore them, it costs valuable resources. Spending too much on healing, however, can slow down your progress in upgrading skills and abilities. As a commander, you need to carefully weigh the risks of fighting and how much you invest in keeping your squad alive.
