Pixar is continuing to create exciting and heartwarming films, with both Hoppers and Toy Story 5 scheduled to come out in 2026. Beyond that, they’re also developing several other projects, including a new film called Gatto, and sequels to Incredibles and Coco. Recently, an actor from the Incredibles franchise revealed some news about when they might start recording their lines for the next installment.
Disney announced Incredibles 3 at the D23 Expo in 2024, and it’s currently scheduled to come out in the summer of 2028. While that’s a couple of years away, animated movies like this usually take four to six years to make. Here’s an update from Holly Hunter, who voices Elastigirl, about her involvement.

Actress Hunter is currently promoting her part in the upcoming Star Trek series, Starfleet Academy, where she plays a starship captain. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, she shared that she’ll be returning to Pixar to voice the character Helen Parr, also known as Elastigirl, in just two months. She then added the following information:
I’m usually not familiar with the plot details beforehand. I never really know what the story is for The Incredibles. I just go in and record my lines with Brad Bird, or whoever is directing – I believe he’s been writing the script this time – and it’s always a fun experience.
I’m so excited for Incredibles 3! Brad Bird, the creative force behind the first two Incredibles films, is back as a writer and executive producer. While he won’t be directing this time, I’m really confident in Peter Sohn taking the helm. He did such a wonderful job with The Good Dinosaur and Elemental, so I can’t wait to see his vision for the Parr family’s next adventure!

While details about the voice cast for Incredibles 3 are still limited, it seems Holly Hunter will be returning to voice Elastigirl, and she’s reportedly beginning work on the film soon. Considering Pixar spends a lot of time developing the story and animation before recording voices, it’s likely that Incredibles 3 is already in active production.
It’s been over eight years since Incredibles 2 came out, and many consider it one of Pixar’s best sequels. The movie flipped traditional roles, with Helen, or Hunter, taking on dangerous missions to earn money while her husband, Bob (Mr. Incredible), became a stay-at-home dad. It was a massive success, earning over $1.24 billion worldwide and remaining Pixar’s highest-grossing film until Inside Out 2 came out in 2024 and earned over $1.69 billion globally.
Superhero movies are now very common, so it will be interesting to see how Pixar brings something new to the genre with the next installment of The Incredibles, and what adventures await the Parr family. Before that, you can catch Pixar’s Hoppers in theaters on March 6.
