People eating at In-N-Out restaurants across the US say the chain stopped accepting order number 67. This is reportedly because of a recent internet meme where people, often kids, would go to the restaurants and yell out ’67’ as a prank.
The ’67’ meme is incredibly widespread – you’re likely to encounter it even if you don’t use social media. It’s particularly popular with kids, who enjoy repeating it whenever they can.
The term ‘brainrot’ doesn’t have a clear definition, but many think it became popular because of the rapper Skrilla’s song ‘Doot Doot.’ What it actually means isn’t the point – it’s mostly a shared joke among young people, and a fun way to playfully bother adults.
The meme has become incredibly popular, leading to large groups of teenagers in Southern California gathering at In-N-Out Burger. They’re waiting for order number ’67’ to be called, and videos of these meetups are all over social media, showing the excited crowds cheering when the number is announced.

In-N-Out supposedly axes ‘67′ order number and the internet thinks the meme is to blame
Starting in early December, reports began appearing online from both customers and staff that certain In-N-Out locations had removed a specific number from their system. This was reportedly done to stop large groups of teenagers from causing disruptions.
A worker posted on Reddit that they noticed a numbering issue at work. Every time the system reached customer number 66, it jumped directly to 68, skipping number 67. The worker is now wondering if number 67 was intentionally removed and why.
One In-N-Out employee shared that a manager will proactively fill water cups when customer number 67 is close to being called. This is to prevent anyone from receiving that number, as a previous experience with it led to a chaotic situation, especially during busy times like after football games or homecoming.
I’ve been seeing a ton of TikToks where warehouse workers are apparently jumping straight from order number 66 to 68, totally skipping 67! It’s caused a huge discussion online, and everyone’s wondering if this weird trend is because of some meme going around.
In a video, an In-N-Out employee directly responded to a customer asking about rumors they were getting rid of a specific number. The employee confirmed they had taken steps to stop the large, disruptive gatherings that had been happening.
The employee explained they currently have between 66 and 68 items in stock, having removed 67 previously. They jokingly attributed this fluctuation to the customer filming, implying the customer’s order contributed to the change.

TopMob contacted In-In-Out’s marketing team for a statement, but they haven’t responded yet.
It’s currently unclear if In-N-Out Burger is responding to the popular “67” meme. However, other fast food companies are jumping on the trend. Wendy’s, for example, offered Frostys for 67 cents on Black Friday, and Domino’s ran a deal for a large one-topping pizza for $6.70 using the code 67.
