‘I’m Struggling To Open My Eyes.’ Influencer Talks Wicked: For Good’s Ariana Grande And Cynthia Erivo Helping Out After A Drink Was Spilled On Her

The musical Wicked beautifully showed the developing friendship between Glinda and Elphaba, and the upcoming movie will explore how they impacted each other “For Good.” With another Wicked publicity tour starting up, stories from the first movie’s tour are resurfacing. One story involves an influencer who had a drink spilled on her, and while the incident itself wasn’t exciting, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s response to help her was truly heartwarming.

TikTok creator Tricia Mpisi shared a story about attending the European premiere of Wicked last year, as one of a few African influencers invited. She recounted a frightening moment during a group photo when someone dressed as the Wicked Witch accidentally spilled champagne all over her.

It felt like something out of a movie! I looked down and saw something shatter, and then I immediately felt a warm liquid splash into my eyes. Because I was wearing mascara and makeup, the alcohol in whatever broke was suddenly burning my eyes.

It’s no surprise she screamed when her drink spilled! You never expect a simple group photo to turn into burning liquid getting in someone’s eyes – it would be frightening. Fortunately, the cast of Wicked were nearby and helped her out.

A key theme in the upcoming movie, based on the book, will be the journey of two witches as they learn what it truly means to be good. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande demonstrated their own kindness and generosity while filming the next installment of Tricia Mpisi’s exciting story, as Mpisi remembers:

With my eyes squeezed shut and stinging, someone helped me and said, ‘This is Cynthia Erivo. We’ll get you a chair, okay? You’re going to be alright.’ I’m serious—I just nodded and said, ‘Okay!’

The influencer explained that after someone pulled out a chair for her, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and others quickly helped clean champagne off her face. Even though she was having trouble seeing, she felt reassured by hearing Erivo and Grande’s voices. She also remembered the former Nickelodeon star suggesting something unexpected.

I could barely open my eyes, and someone gently wiped my face and hands. My first thought was that my dress was ruined, especially since we were about to head to the premiere. Then, Ariana Grande offered to cancel the whole event for me! I started laughing and asked if she was serious, and she said she knew someone who could make it happen.

It was so kind of Ariana Grande to do that. And it’s even more heartwarming that her co-stars from Wicked stayed with her to help clean up the champagne afterward. That’s a truly heroic act.

Mpisi was deeply touched by the TikTokers’ kindness, explaining that people in her home country of South Africa don’t often stop to help others in need. She felt they transformed what could have been an awkward situation into a genuinely heartwarming experience, and she found that incredibly meaningful.

The upcoming movie Wicked: For Good explores different types of heroism through its main characters, Glinda and Elphaba, and the actresses playing them seem genuinely kind-hearted. One actress recently helped a TikTok influencer after a champagne spill, making her feel cared for and grateful. It’s a heartwarming reminder that real-life kindness, like magic, can appear in surprising moments.

If you’re looking forward to seeing Wicked: For Good in theaters like Tricia Mpisi, mark your calendar! The movie will be released on November 21st, 2025. And if you want to enjoy the original Wicked film, you can stream it on Peacock.
