As we move towards Halloween, it won’t be long before we can enjoy watching some terrifying horror movies, along with more kid-friendly films suitable for all ages. I always look forward to tuning into Freeform during the holiday season with my daughter, though I must admit I’m a bit puzzled about one particular selection this year. However, I might have to skip my annual viewing of Casper after discovering an essential aspect of the story has been overlooked.
If you’re curious about the extent of my affection for Casper, let me share that I own a Stretch puppet from Pizza Hut, which was a promotional item given out when the movie premiered in 1995. To make things clear, I’ve always had a special fondness for The Ghostly Trio. It only occurred to me recently that there’s still one major detail about them that remains unknown to us.
We’re Never Told How The Ghostly Trio Died
The movie “Casper” leaves some points unclear for me, which is why I haven’t given the Halloween classic much thought. However, upon reflection, I found an inconsistency – we never learn why Stretch, Stinky, and Fatso are deceased. Now that I’ve noticed this, it keeps bothering me.
It’s not a new observation – a quick online search reveals various theories about the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the three uncles from the McFadden family. Was it a tragic accident that claimed them all together, or is there a lingering family curse that has led to their unfortunate demise? The rapid loss of four family members leaves us questioning the events that transpired.
Casper Left An Interesting Story On The Table That Could Be Told At Some Point
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Casper, but unfortunately, no new feature film about the friendly ghost is in development at this time. It’s disappointing to not have more stories to explore from this franchise, particularly focusing on The Ghostly Trio. I believe there are many unresolved narratives waiting to be told, such as the circumstances surrounding their deaths and the enigmatic McFadden family’s connection.
Which Not-So-Scary Witch Movies To Watch This Halloween Season
The intriguing aspect of the narrative revolves around Casper and his uncles being condemned to live as spirits, while their parents are not. It’s puzzling, and Hollywood might seize this chance to produce a prequel, shedding light on the complex and tragic tale of the McFadden family, revealing how they ended up in such a troubled state.
Although Casper didn’t find a spot in TopMob’s top ’90s movies list, I believe it was holding down the number 101 position, perhaps even snatched away from lower-ranked movies due to oversight. With the 30th anniversary upon us, it seems fitting to ignite discussions about revisiting this beloved franchise and potentially releasing a new movie or two.
