I’m really looking forward to several romances in 2026, but I’m especially excited about season four of Bridgerton. Benedict Bridgerton is my favorite character, and his storyline with Sophie sounds wonderful. I love a good Cinderella story, so I’ve been anticipating this season for a long time. But after hearing Shonda Rhimes talk about how moving the new episodes are, I’m even more eager to watch!
Season 4 of Bridgerton, based on Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer from a Gentleman, is shaping up to be a departure from previous seasons. This time, the story will focus on both the aristocratic and servant worlds, as Benedict falls in love with Sophie, a member of the household staff. Shonda Rhimes recently highlighted this unique approach on The Jennifer Hudson Show, explaining that it’s what makes the new episodes so special.
Each season has its own unique feel, but this one is special because it gives us a look at both worlds – the lives of the family and the staff. We see what’s happening with everyone, and it’s really interesting to watch the romance develop between people from different social classes. Plus, the actors have incredible chemistry together.
Based on the trailers for the upcoming season of Bridgerton on Netflix in 2026, Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha, who play Benedict and Sophie, have amazing chemistry. I’m really excited to see their love story unfold and I anticipate a very emotional and captivating romance.
Shonda Rhimes says emotions have been running high – for her, especially while finishing up Season 4. She mentioned one particular episode that consistently makes her cry.
This is the first season I’ve had the chance to do the final edits, and it’s been a really emotional experience. I’ve actually cried while editing a particular episode every time – it’s a beautiful, romantic story, and it feels genuinely good to work on.
When a show can make Shonda Rhimes, the creator of hits like Grey’s Anatomy and Bridgerton, tear up, you know it’s something special. She says that during all her time working on the period romance, she cried every time she watched a particular episode in Season 4 – that’s a huge compliment!
Hearing this, especially after showrunner Jess Brownell said Season 4 was the smoothest to adapt, makes me incredibly happy. I’ve enjoyed every season of Bridgerton, but I’ve been particularly excited for Benedict’s story. It’s wonderful to see the creators so pleased with how it turned out.
I’m eagerly awaiting the January 29th release date! I’ll definitely have my Netflix subscription ready to go, and I plan to watch the first part of Benedict and Sophie’s story as soon as it’s available. Expect a lot of tears – especially during the scene Shonda Rhimes mentioned!
