Iain Armitage Plays Himself In Upcoming Ghosts Episode On CBS

Iain Armitage, known for playing young Sheldon Cooper, will be back on CBS in a new show. Following the success of Young Sheldon and its connection to The Big Bang Theory, the new series Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage continues the story. While many of the original Young Sheldon cast members have already made appearances, this will be Armitage’s first return to the universe since his starring role.

Sheldon’s long-standing, decades-long estrangement from his brother, Georgie Cooper, is a key reason why actor Jim Parsons won’t be appearing in the cast of Georgie & Mandy. However, Parsons will be guest starring on another popular CBS comedy series.

According to Variety, Richard Armitage will appear in a guest role on season 5 of Ghosts. He’ll be playing a somewhat exaggerated version of himself, and his character will be caught up in an intense poker game at the Woodstone Mansion. The episode is set to air on April 16, 2026.

The announcement of Armitage’s role comes just after he posted pictures on Instagram with Asher Grodman, who plays Trevor on Ghosts. They hinted at a possible connection between Ghosts and Young Sheldon at the time. While this isn’t a full crossover, Armitage’s appearance will probably acknowledge the actor’s growing popularity from his work on sitcoms.

I’m a huge fan of Ghosts – it’s seriously the best sitcom on regular TV right now, and thankfully, it’s already been picked up for season six! The show, which is based on a British series, follows Sam and Jay as they navigate life after Sam gains the ability to see ghosts. It’s hilarious watching them deal with all the funny situations that come with it. And the show is great at bringing in fun guest stars – remember Tara Reid from American Pie and Sharknado? She was brilliant in season two!

Jim Parsons, known for his role as Sheldon and a Critics’ Choice Award nomination, will appear in the sci-fi thriller The Adam Trials alongside Martin Freeman of Sherlock. Fans hoping to see him and his Young Sheldon co-stars together again might be pleased to hear he’s joining the cast of Ghosts, which could potentially lead to a reunion with his on-screen brother.
