Demi Moore will star in the upcoming sci-fi film, I Love Boosters, which just revealed its first image and is scheduled for release in December 2026. This follows her recent successful role in the 2024 sci-fi horror film The Substance, which received five Academy Award nominations and earned Moore her first Best Actress nomination.
NEON has just given us a first glimpse of their new movie, I Love Boosters, which will be in theaters May 22, 2026, during Memorial Day weekend. The initial image, tinted mustard yellow, doesn’t include Demi Moore, but features Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, and Keke Palmer. You can see the first image below.

Okay, so I just heard about this new movie by Boots Riley – he directed Sorry to Bother You, which I loved! It’s called I Love Boosters, and it’s about this group of women who are really good at shoplifting designer clothes. But things get crazy when they decide to target the CEO of a big fashion company, and it ends up sparking this whole unexpected rebellion. Sounds wild, right? I’m definitely checking it out!
The film boasts a talented cast including Demi Moore (known for The Substance), Emmy winner Keke Palmer (Password), and Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah, also in Sorry to Bother You). BAFTA winner Naomi Ackie (The End of the Fing World), Eiza González, Poppy Liu, Taylour Paige (Zola), and two-time Emmy nominee Will Poulter (The Bear, Dopesick) also star.
The film has a distinctive, dreamlike look with a strong use of bold mustard colors, which is typical of Boots Riley’s filmmaking style – it’s vibrant, surreal, and visually striking. Given the planned release date, I Love Boosters might actually premiere much earlier at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, just like Riley’s first film, Sorry to Bother You, which gained recognition in 2018 for its sharp and rebellious take on corporate life.
I’m really hoping I Love Boosters gets some festival love! If it doesn’t end up at Sundance, I could totally see it premiering at SXSW or Cannes. Cannes seems particularly likely, actually – the timing works out, and Boots Riley’s films are so unique and original, I think it’d be a perfect fit for their Un Certain Regard section, which showcases films that really push boundaries.

I was so excited to hear Boots Riley has a new film coming out! He really made a splash with Sorry to Bother You, and it’s great to see him back after seven years. It’s not like he’s disappeared, though – I absolutely loved his Amazon series I’m A Virgo from last year. It had that same amazing mix of weird, imaginative visuals and really biting social commentary that made his first film so special.
Boots Riley is a communist activist who often explores anti-capitalist ideas in his creative work, including his films, and his music with bands like The Coup and Street Sweeper Social Club. His new project, I Love Boosters, will likely continue this tradition of challenging and thought-provoking themes seen throughout his career in film, TV, and music.
