After more than 15 years, a new *Meet the Parents* movie is in the works! Titled *Focker-In-Law*, it’s slated for release in 2026 and will bring back the original cast, including Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, and Teri Polo. Ariana Grande and Skyler Gisondo (from *Superman*) are also joining the team. Recently, before the Emmys, Ben Stiller was repeatedly asked if Barbra Streisand would be involved in the sequel.
Ben Stiller Weighs In On Getting Barbra Streisand In Focker-In-Law
Barbra Streisand famously played Greg Focker’s mother, Roz, in the successful 2004 film *Meet the Fockers* and its 2010 sequel, *Little Fockers*. Now, fans are wondering if she’ll appear in the upcoming film, *Focker-In-Law*. Ben Stiller recently discussed this with E! News at the Emmys, and here’s what he said:
I keep getting asked. We all would love it. We’re in process.
So, during the Emmys, everyone kept asking Ben Stiller about Barbra Streisand potentially reprising her role as Mrs. Focker. It was a running joke! He’d clearly gotten that question a *lot* even before the nominations for the 2025 show were announced. His wife, Christine Taylor, even chimed in and said it was *the* most popular question of the night – seriously, everyone wanted to know!
Barbra Streisand’s Viral Comments On Her Meet The Focker’s Salary
Many journalists were likely asking Stiller about this because Barbra Streisand had previously expressed her dissatisfaction with her compensation for the film. Back in June, she admitted she was upset about not being paid enough and said she’d only consider returning for a sequel if she received a significant payment. She made it clear she expected to be well-compensated.
I was really upset because I wasn’t paid as much as my colleagues. This happened at a time when women often earned less than men. Fortunately, Ron Meyer, who was the head of Universal at the time, did send me a bonus check, which was a nice gesture.
Look, Barbra Streisand is keeping tight-lipped about her potential salary for the *Wicked* movie, and she’s definitely not revealing who else is getting paid what. But it sounds like she needs a little persuading to sign on. She *has* seen the show with Ariana Grande, and apparently her grandkids were huge fans, which might be the key. I’m guessing the chance to work alongside another powerhouse performer like Grande could really sweeten the deal for her.
Production on *Focker-In-Law* began last month, and Grande will play the future wife of Greg Focker’s son (Gisondo). Ben Stiller has explained the movie will have a similar feel to *Meet the Parents*, as he’s now at the same stage in life that Robert De Niro was during the first film. The release date is currently set for November 25, 2026.
