“I have been banned because someone stole my video.” YouTuber’s channel terminated, MoistCr1TiKaL calls out broken AI moderation

It’s frustrating being a YouTube fan right now, because it feels like the platform keeps making things difficult for creators. Their AI moderation system is notorious for wrongly banning or suspending channels – remember what happened with Endermanch and IANROCKS? Even when creators win legal fights, like Oleksandr with his Chase Car channel, things don’t always get fixed. And now, I just heard about someone losing their channel completely because someone else stole their videos – it’s just a mess!

YouTube’s AI totally messed this one up

SplashPlateVGC reported on X that a video was stolen from his YouTube channel. The channel that stole the video was taken down, but then YouTube mistakenly believed SplashPlate was involved and also terminated his channel.

It began when he shared a humorous clip from his Pokémon Legends ZA gameplay – a Glaceon edit – on X, adding his own watermark. The clip gained a lot of attention, but a few days later, he discovered it had been reposted on a YouTube channel called Evolution Army, along with content from other Pokémon Legends ZA players. As a result, he decided to upload the clip to his own YouTube channel, as he’d previously only shared it on X.

Man, it’s rough out here. Evolution Army just got wiped off YouTube, and it looks like it was because they were using content from other creators without getting the okay. Now, SplashPlate thinks YouTube accidentally took his channel down too, assuming it was connected to Evolution Army. Honestly, it’s kinda scary – a lot of us creators whose videos ended up on that channel could be next. It makes you worry about copyright stuff, you know?

It should be straightforward to resolve this issue. The video has a watermark, and he has proof he originally posted it on X. You’d expect his YouTube channel to be reinstated quickly, but that hasn’t happened. Despite contacting YouTube support repeatedly, he keeps getting the same response: they claim he violated their terms by sharing content from an account that was previously terminated. It’s obvious YouTube hasn’t actually reviewed the situation, and it appears to be another case of their automated systems making a mistake.

This whole thing is so strange, even popular YouTuber MoistCr1TiKaL made a video about it. Hopefully, all this attention will get YouTube to take notice and restore SplashPlate’s channel quickly.
