I’ve always loved going to the movies and experiencing the latest technology, but I’ve never been a fan of 3D films or the uncomfortable glasses that come with them. I didn’t enjoy 3D movies as a kid in the ’90s, and I still don’t like them now. That is, until I saw the impressive Avatar: Fire and Ash before the new movie comes out in 2025.
I used to dislike 3D movies – I think it’s because my eyes aren’t perfectly aligned, which made the images a bit blurry. However, James Cameron’s newest film really impressed me. I probably won’t be rushing out to see every movie in 3D, but this one definitely changed my mind. Here’s why…

I Actively Avoid 3D Movies, But Made An Exception For Avatar: Fire And Ash
I saw the first two Avatar movies in 3D—I didn’t have much say about the second one—but I’ve actively avoided 3D movies for about fifteen years. I’ve had issues with blurry images, headaches, and discomfort from the disposable 3D glasses. But James Cameron’s latest film changed my mind.
I wasn’t originally planning to see Avatar: The Seed Bearer in 3D IMAX. But knowing James Cameron directed some truly great action and sci-fi movies, I decided to give it a chance, and I’m really glad I did!

Though It Took Some Adjusting, The Experience Left Me In Awe
I’m not sure why, but it always takes me some time to adjust to watching movies in 3D. This was true with Avatar: Fire and Ash too, though the IMAX opening helped. Once the movie really got going, though, my eyes felt comfortable and I felt completely immersed in the world of Pandora, like I was soaring through the air with the Na’vi.
I’ll be honest, during the film’s long runtime – three hours and fifteen minutes – I occasionally needed to take off my glasses, but that’s understandable for a movie of this length and intensity. Despite that, I was completely blown away, and it reminded me how important it is to see films like this in a theater. The flying and underwater scenes were incredible, and it featured what I think is the best action sequence in the entire Avatar series. It was a truly dazzling visual experience, and only James Cameron could have made it.
Even if you don’t usually enjoy 3D movies, I highly recommend seeing Avatar: Fire and Ash in that format – especially if it’s available in IMAX. It’s a visually stunning, exciting, and completely immersive experience that will stay with you long after you leave the theater.
