As a huge comic book fan, I was really looking forward to Ryan Murphy’s take on the dark comic series The Beauty, and the cast – including Evan Peters, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ashton Kutcher – made me even more excited. Now that FX has released the first trailer, my anticipation has grown even more! It’s surprisingly funny and focuses on Kutcher’s character and the unusual STD that’s central to the show’s plot.
The new horror series, The Beauty, centers around a strange disease people are actually seeking out. It transforms those infected into incredibly attractive individuals, but with a deadly cost: a drastically shortened lifespan and a tendency towards violent, erratic behavior before they die. It’s a far cry from typical sexually transmitted diseases like crabs or HIV.
The trailer shows Ashton Kutcher playing a ridiculously wealthy and unpleasant man who appears to be the one who released ‘The Beauty’ to the public. His character’s name, ‘The Corporation,’ is also pretty terrible. He doesn’t seem to care about the harmful effects his product is having on people, and here’s how he describes it all:
I’m living proof of how amazing this new beauty drug is – it makes you look fantastic with no effort at all.
Although the show might surprise me, it seems like Ashton Kutcher is having more fun with this role than he has in years – even more than when he and Mila Kunis reprised their roles in That ’90s Show.
Although Ashton Kutcher plays the villain in the series, even though his character helps people affected by the ‘Beauty,’ Evan Peters and Rebecca Ferguson star as the detectives, Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett, who are investigating the case.

Anthony Ramos is also joining the cast, and it’s great to see him playing another charming villain after his role in Marvel’s Ironheart. He’ll be playing a character called The Assassin, and the trailer hints at how dangerous he is – plus, he has a really cool sense of style.
Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley created The Beauty for the comic book page. The original series ran for 30 issues between 2015 and 2019. The duo recently teamed up again to create a new story arc timed with the debut of the FX show, with the first issue released in October 2025.

Hulu is offering a 30-day free trial for both its ad-supported and ad-free plans! This gives you access to all of Hulu’s content, including popular original series like What We Do in the Shadows, Tell Me Lies, The Bear, and Only Murders In The Building. After your free month, plans start at $9.99 per month. This offer is available to new and returning eligible customers. See the deal here!
Mila Kunis has previously mentioned that her and Ashton Kutcher’s children accidentally saw some movies that weren’t age-appropriate when they were young. Because of that, it’s safe to say she and Ashton won’t let their kids watch this new comic book movie until they’re much older, probably when they go to college. However, I’ll definitely be one of the first in line to see it when it comes out!
Get ready for The Beauty to premiere on FX and Hulu starting Wednesday, January 21st at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. It’s expected to be a major addition to the 2026 TV lineup.
