Hytale recently became available in early access and is already incredibly popular on Twitch, becoming the most-watched game on the platform.
Hytale had a challenging development process, but after nearly eight years since it was first revealed, the game is now available.
Even though it’s still being developed, the game has quickly become very popular. It was the most-watched game on Twitch as soon as it launched, according to PCGamer.
The game launched into early access with a strong start, attracting over 420,000 viewers on its first day. After nearly ten years of anticipation, players eagerly jumped in to experience this new sandbox action-adventure game from Hypixel Studios.
Hytale hits incredible milestone on its early access launch day
The number of viewers decreased throughout the day, falling to approximately 210,000 as of this moment.

Despite the decrease, the player counts remain incredibly high, which is remarkable since the game isn’t on Steam and isn’t a free-to-play title.
Honestly, this game is still blowing past some huge names in the gaming world. We’re talking about titles like GTA V, League of Legends, and even ARC Raiders – it’s doing better than all of them right now, which is pretty wild!
Right now, I can only play Hytale through their official launcher. The developers have said a Steam release isn’t off the table completely, but they don’t think it’s necessary at the moment. Basically, they’re happy with how things are working now and aren’t rushing to get it on Steam.
Hytale is a creative sandbox role-playing game where you can build with blocks, fight, explore, and even add custom modifications. Many people compare it to Minecraft because of its similar gameplay.
Work on this project began in 2015, initially by the team behind the well-known Minecraft server, Hypixel. Riot Games acquired the studio in 2020.
After multiple delays caused by expanding its ambition, Riot Games closed the studio and cancelled the game in 2025.
However, that didn’t last. Hypixel co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme unexpectedly regained the rights to the game and restarted development, leading to its current playable, early access version.
Hytale is currently playable on Windows, but the developers are planning to release versions for Linux and macOS as well. Console versions are expected to come out at a later date.
