Somebody’s Oil Crunch, Anyone?
So, Hyperliquid just cleared past a full billion dollars in oil-linked perpetuities because crude asked nicely for a $100 upgrade, thanks to whatever chaos is at play in the Middle East. Who knew oil and crypto could tidy up like that?
Hyperliquid: “The Place to Be”
Yup, that’s the tagline again. Imagine a room where everything that can happen is happening, and it’s a room that’s also a token wise? Hyperliquid is doing that with a new breed of traders who love to smash the market with their wrapped tokens and, apparently, love to keep a room full of metals and other “essential assets.”
Just yesterday, on the social network X apparently, Hyperliquid’s official account bureaucratically announced that Real Word Assets (read “whatever IP addresses you are trading”) are breaking every record on the platform. They now boast over $1.3 billion in open interest and $1.4 billion in weekend volume. Great, because when the traditional markets close for a Sunday coffee break, we’re just keeping ours open. Surprise!
Over the past 2 weeks, RWA trading on Hyperliquid has repeated breaking records: $1.3 billion open interest and $1.4 billion weekend volume.

Those hard‑earned DEX perks are unbeatable when the world feels like a jigsaw on a temperamental teeter‑totter: 24/7 access, permissionless HIP‑3 listings, and the non‑binary ability to size into oil, gold, and equity index perps without needing a broker’s friendly nickname.
The Rise of HYPE
Hyperliquid’s native token, $HYPE, has been doing a little dance akin to a stock that once worried about dipping below half its September high. It shot up more than 8% in the last day, landing at $37. Eye‑watering, I know.
Arthur Hayes, former BitMEX co‑founder and now the hype whisperer, predicted it would reach $150 by August 2026. He sets the stage in a Substack essay titled “$HYPE Man.” He says the token is the one place you can bet on the on‑chain derivatives gig regardless of market direction, and he thinks most fees are recycled into HYPE via buybacks and burns, effectively making the token an all‑in bet on the protocol’s earn potential.

If everything in the macro story keeps shaking like a bag of onions, and trade war fears continue to bite, tokenised oil on Hyperliquid might become the go‑to battleground for both DeFi and traditional finance. That’s how the “oil shock” plays still hit people when the men behind it spare no effort.
