2025’s CES is underway, showcasing an array of new technologies. Among the revelations, Hyperkin has presented a novel Xbox and PC controller, resembling the design of the PlayStation DualSense controller quite noticeably. Named the Competitor, it’s a wired device boasting top-notch components like Hall Effect analog sticks and triggers. As of now, the pricing and launch date are still undisclosed; however, we will promptly update this article with preorder links once Hyperkin announces those specifics.
Similar to the DualSense controller, the Competitor model boasts a similar arrangement of face buttons, symmetrical analog sticks, and strategically placed face buttons. The D-pad resembles the DualSense with its transparent buttons and positioning. For added functionality, it includes two additional inputs located on the rear of the gamepad. Upon release, consumers can choose between two versions: a standard black Competitor controller and another option featuring white faceplates for a striking two-tone appearance.
Although the competitor appears to resemble a DualSense controller, it remains uncertain if it will deliver the same tactile experience. The design seems remarkably similar to its main model, but the DualSense stands out with subtle haptic feedback elements not found in an Xbox controller.
On a PC, just like with a DualSense controller, but keep in mind that utilizing DualSense’s unique features often necessitates connecting it to your PC via USB-C. However, on a PS5 console, you can enjoy these features wirelessly. For those seeking a more vintage feel, they might want to explore the Duke controller, which was revived by Hyperkin in collaboration with Xbox and is now compatible with modern Xbox systems.
