1896 version of Hunt: Showdown has recently made significant advancements, improving its gameplay with numerous quality-of-life updates, making it smoother than ever. Based on their analysis, the alterations have generally received a very positive response from players.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 Developers Reveal Positive Update on Trade Window Adjustments
In case you’re new to Hunt: Showdown 1896, there was a problem with “trade windows” where it seemed like two players killed each other simultaneously. However, one player actually fired first but the shot didn’t register quickly enough because of a detection error, causing both players to be knocked down. This often led to frustration among players. Fortunately, Crytek has resolved this issue in their latest Update 2.2.

Currently, developers have disclosed some details about the impact of this update on trades. Essentially, they’ve tightened the timeframe for a player to fire or land a hit following death, decreasing it from 800 milliseconds to just 75 milliseconds. From their latest blog post, the early signs are promising.
For those who prefer a deeper understanding, you can explore the complete article, however, the developers noted that prior to the implementation of version 2.2, most erroneous hits were primarily caused by general timeouts. This essentially means that a damage request took more time than usual to reach the server, typically due to connectivity problems between the player and the server.

Since the latest update, I’ve noticed that a lot of my shots are being nullified due to the new projectile launch prevention system. This happens when my character is already downed and the shot is blocked more than 75 milliseconds after it was fired. It’s not entirely clear if we’ll see our Hunters firing off their weapons just before they meet their demise, but this new way of blocking shots certainly seems to minimize instances where I think I’ve scored a hit, only for it to turn out fruitless.
To summarize, the developers have acknowledged that they’ve made significant strides in rectifying issues related to unfair kill trades by considering community feedback and refining the relevant mechanics. While it’s understood that live service games like Hunt: Showdown 1896 can always be improved, Crytek is commendable for their efforts in tackling this matter and keeping players informed about their ongoing improvements.
