As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share some intriguing news from the world of “The Hunger Games.” Tom Blyth, who masterfully brought President Coriolanus Snow to life in “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” has playfully hinted at a potential meeting with Ralph Fiennes, who previously portrayed Snow in the original series. In an apparent nod to a possible knowledge transfer, Blyth joked about teaching Fiennes a few tricks of the trade. Moreover, Blyth subtly hinted at his own future involvement in the much-loved franchise’s upcoming installment, “Sunrise on the Reaping.
Tom Blyth reacts to Ralph Fiennes’ President Snow casting in Hunger Games prequel
In an amusing exchange with ScreenRant, Tom Blyth humorously suggested that Ralph Fiennes might benefit from his insights as they prepare for their respective roles portraying President Snow on the big screen. “Indeed, I suspect I could impart some wisdom to him,” Blyth hinted, acknowledging Fiennes’ rising talent in the acting world, yet relatively unknown status. Laughing, he expressed confidence in Fiennes’ promising future career trajectory.
In the upcoming movie “Sunrise on the Reaping,” which is set 24 years before Jennifer Lawrence’s Hunger Games films and four decades after the events of “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” actor Fiennes will portray a 58-year-old version of President Snow. This character was previously played by Donald Sutherland in the original Hunger Games series, and by Tom Blyth in some capacity as well.
Blyth, even though he was only 30, was determined to land the role and was willing to take drastic measures to achieve it. He confessed that he actually texted Francis Lawrence and Nina Jacobson saying, “I’d be more than willing to undergo six hours of makeup application every day to appear like a 55-60 year old man.
In the end, Blyth found acceptance regarding the decision and wholeheartedly supports his successor. As he expressed, “I believe they chose wisely. I’m confident that Ralph Fiennes is capable of managing the situation effectively.
As a follower, I find myself hopeful that there may be more of President Snow’s tale to unfold in the Hunger Games franchise. Donald Sutherland, the actor who brings Snow to life on screen, hinted at this possibility when he said, “We haven’t ruled out a return. It could very well be that Suzanne Collins [the author] might pen another book focusing on Snow, his journey, and all of Tigris.
