Civilization has been destroyed in Paradise, but it’s taking America by storm on Hulu.
Though the first season of Paradise was initially promoted as a political thriller, the premiere showed it’s also a science fiction story taking place in an underground city built within a bunker after a worldwide catastrophe. The season one finale saw Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) venture to the surface, hoping to find his wife, Teri Rogers-Collins (Enuka Okuma), still alive. Season two starts with a three-episode premiere, following both new characters on the surface and the continuing stories of Xavier and those remaining in the bunker.
As a total streaming junkie, I have to tell you, Paradise is absolutely crushing it on Hulu! Seriously, just one day after its season 2 debut, it’s already the number one show in the U.S., beating out everything else – even Predator: Badlands, classic rom-coms like Love Story, and popular series like The Rookie, Tell Me Lies, and Patrick Dempsey’s new show, Memory of a Killer. And it’s not just a U.S. thing – globally, Paradise is hanging out in the top 3 on Disney+, and it’s been a top 5 hit in places like Australia, Croatia, and all over Europe! It’s clearly a massive hit, and I’m not surprised!
With a critics’ debut score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, Paradise season 2 reviews have been positive and build on season 1’s critical acclaim. This average is even higher than season 1, which received an 86% from critics. In ScreenRant‘s season 2 review, Graeme Guttmann writes that “Paradise finds the perfect balance of pulp and drama” and “is endlessly riveting and truly exciting.”
Beyond the great reviews, Paradise is doing well on streaming because it doesn’t make viewers wait long between seasons. The first season aired from January 26 to March 4, 2025, and the second season arrived just over a year later on February 23, 2026. This quick return keeps the show’s popularity going and avoids the long delays that often frustrate fans of other streaming series.
Season 2 of Paradise introduces new characters Annie (Shailene Woodley), Link (Thomas Doherty), Geiger (Michael McGrady), and Chef (Timothy Omundson), all of whom are people who have survived on the surface. Returning alongside Xavier and Teri are familiar faces like Samantha “Sinatra” Redmond (Julianne Nicholson), Jane Driscoll (Nicole Brydon Bloom), Dr. Gabriela Torabi (Sarah Shahi), Nicole Robinson (Krys Marshall), Presley Collins (Aliyah Mastin), James Collins (Percy Daggs IV), and Jeremy Bradford (Charlie Evans). We’ll also see President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) and Billy Pace (Jon Beavers) again through flashbacks, despite their deaths in season 1.
Paradise releases new episodes Mondays on Hulu.
