Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ free 3.0 update brings lots of new things to do, including fun collaborations with Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda. By scanning certain Amiibo figures, you can invite special villagers and get unique items to decorate your island. This guide will tell you about all the new villagers and which Amiibo figures work with them in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
If you’re still figuring out Amiibo and cards from older versions, there’s a separate guide I found really helpful for Animal Crossing: New Horizons campsites. And seriously, don’t miss out on checking everything new in the 3.0 update – unlocking the Resort Hotel is a game changer! If you need help with anything on your island, I’ve been using this amazing complete guide hub – it’s saved me so many times!

Crossover characters for Splatoon and Zelda
Update 3.0 lets you invite four new Nintendo characters to your island! You’ll be able to welcome Mineru and Tulin from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, plus Cece and Viché, who are based on the popular Splatoon duo, Callie and Marie.
Every villager has a unique set of Amiibo figures you can scan to invite them to your island. You’ll find a complete list for each villager below.
To enjoy this content, you need to be playing version 3.0 of the game. You can easily check your version on the main menu loading screen – look for a number in the upper right corner that starts with a 3.
How to use Amiibo
Want to invite special characters to your island in Animal Crossing? Just visit the Nook Stop terminal inside Resident Services and choose “Invite a camper.” Then, scan one of the compatible Amiibo figures to bring your chosen character to your campsite!
When you unlock a crossover character, you’ll also get access to furniture and clothing inspired by their world. You can buy these special items in the “Promotional” section of the Nook Shopping menu, which you can find at the Nook Stop ATM or on your phone app.
