How To Upgrade Arc Raiders Weapons And Workbenches

In Arc Raiders, your weapons are your primary way to defend against enemies. While teamwork and other gear can help, it’s your weapons that will mostly decide whether you survive each mission. That’s why learning how to upgrade them quickly and regularly is so important.

When you first start playing Arc Raiders, you won’t have many weapons. You’ll get a basic set for free, but you’ll need to find and upgrade better ones yourself. Upgrading isn’t easy – you’ll need resources and a more powerful workbench. Here’s a guide on how to upgrade your weapons workbench in Arc Raiders, letting you craft and equip stronger weapons – one of our helpful tips to get you started.

Unlocking the Gunsmith in Arc Raiders

At the start of Arc Raiders, you won’t be able to use the weapon customization station, known as the Gunsmith. However, you’ll unlock it fairly quickly, as it’s a key part of the game’s progression system.

All you have to do to unlock the Gunsmith is acquire these resources:

  • x20 Rubber Parts
  • x20 Metal Parts

You can find these materials early in the game by collecting loot from defeated enemies and completing the initial tutorial missions. If you’re still missing Rubber or Metal Parts, be sure to recycle all the junk items you find. Breaking down objects is a great way to get the parts you need – especially ARC technology and discarded gear like parachutes.

Once you’ve collected enough Rubber and Metal Parts, go to the Workshop in the main lobby. There, you can click “Install” to build the “Gunsmith I” station. The Workshop lets you craft other stations too, so remember to look for the resources needed for those while you’re gathering supplies.

With the Gunsmith I station installed, you’re ready to start upgrading your weapons in Arc Raiders.

Upgrading weapons and the Gunsmith in Arc Raiders

You can improve your weapons using the Gunsmith. Simply click on the Gunsmith station in your Workshop. This will open a screen with several tabs, including one called “Weapon Upgrades.” Selecting this tab shows you a list of all the weapons you can currently enhance.

To improve your weapons, you’ll need to upgrade your Gunsmith first. It starts at level one, shown as “Gunsmith I.” You can find the “Level Up” option in the Gunsmith’s menu. This will show you what materials you need to raise its level. If you have everything required, simply select “Level Up” to upgrade it.

Upgrading individual weapons is similar to how you upgrade weapons with the Gunsmith. Just go to the Weapon Upgrades menu, select the weapon you want to improve, check the resources needed, and upgrade it if you have them.

Okay, so here’s the deal with upgrading weapons. If you’re trying to level up a purple or gold weapon – the really good stuff – you’re gonna need seriously rare materials, even from level one! It’s a big commitment, especially since those weapons are hard enough to find in the first place. Honestly, I only recommend upgrading and equipping those higher-tier weapons when I’ve got a really solid drop, or when I’m playing with a full team who can watch my back. There’s nothing worse than losing a super rare weapon because I had it equipped and got taken down, or if I’m playing solo and end up dying. It’s just heartbreaking!

Upgrading a weapon makes it more powerful, increasing its stats without any negative effects. There’s usually no downside to upgrading, unless you need to save resources for other important things in Arc Raiders. Because upgraded weapons are so effective, it’s generally a good idea to focus on improving them before other upgrades.
