A Final Death for Gravity quest guide
You can unlock the double jump by completing a side quest named “A Final Death for Gravity.” This quest takes place on Eden, also known as Paradise Island, which is the first large area you’ll explore in the main story. You’ll need to find and reach a location called Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove to start it.
Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove location
Sovereign’s Sweet Spire is west of Fairfield. Look for a rocky outcrop on the plateau – you’ll also find a control panel for an elevator close by. You’ll need Engineering skill level 3 to get the elevator working.

Perilous Journey to the Grove: Meeting the trapped NPCs
When you get close to the main building in the grove, you’ll see someone fall and die. Then, two people named Othaham and Ferch will call out to you for help – they’re trapped on top and can’t climb down.
Inspect the dead trooper to find the following:
- P.A.L.E. – The Plasmatic Augmented Leap Enhancer (PALE) actually grants the double jump in The Outer Worlds 2. As soon as you pick it up, you’ll be able to hop while in mid-air.
- Recovered Schematics – Another quest item.

A Final Death for Gravity: Jumping all the way to the top
This leads to a couple of tasks:
- Perilous Journey to the Grove – Return to Fairfield and bring the Recovered Schematics to an NPC named Huell Chaudry. He’s just outside the saloon with the sun symbol.
- A Final Death for Gravity – Your goal in Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove is to use the double jump ability to reach the control room. Along the way, you’ll find the Drive Overloader that can be used on the terminal at the top.

The double jump ability and other rewards
Apart from the PALE augment, you’ll find a few other goodies in the area, too:
- Upon reaching the top of the main structure, go to the edge to see a rock formation. There’s an incline at the back, which happens to have a picnic area. You can grab a card from that location. You can learn more about these items in our collectible cards guide.
- You’re presented with two options when you interact with the main controls: (1) Lower the harvester by using the Drive Overloader, or (2) regulate the device via Engineering 4 or the Brilliant trait. In our case, we picked the second option, which yielded the Monocular Target-Finder helmet.
That wraps up our guide to getting the double jump in The Outer Worlds 2. Fairfield is full of interesting things to discover, and this is just one of many areas you’ll find in the game’s first region.
