How to unlock Cloud in Final Fantasy Tactics- The Ivalice Chronicles

The original Final Fantasy Tactics came out shortly after the popular game Final Fantasy VII. As a special nod to its release, the character Cloud from Final Fantasy VII was included as a hidden character. You could add him to Ramza’s team by finishing a specific side quest. This guide will show you exactly how to unlock Cloud for your team in the new Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles!

 

Following the battle at Zeltennia Castle in Chapter 4, visiting the Trade City of Sal Ghidos will start a cutscene featuring a flower girl. Be sure to purchase the flower from her.



As a huge fan, let me tell you, once you get to the Clockwork City of Goug, something really cool happens! You’ll see a scene with Mustadio and his dad, and then the game will actually *tell* you to go back to Zeltennia Castle. It’s a key moment, so don’t miss it!


While at Zeltennia Castle, stop by the Tavern to hear a new rumor: The Cursed Isle of Nelveska. This will unlock a new location to explore, located just north of the castle. Once you’re prepared, make your way to the newly discovered Nelveska Temple.


Inside the temple, your goal is to defeat a Construct. However, you’ll also have to fight two hydras and three cockatrices. These enemies are very powerful, and the cockatrice’s attacks can turn your party members to stone. Make sure you equip accessories like Jade Armlets to shield your characters from being Petrified!


Once you win the battle, a cutscene will play featuring Beowulf and Reis. During this scene, Reis will use the energy from the Zodiac Stone to transform back to her true form. After that, you’ll be able to add her to your team.



Go back to the Clockwork City of Goug to start a cutscene with Mustadio and his dad. Cloud will appear and immediately leave. Chase after him to the Trade City of Sal Ghidos.


When you reach the city, a fight will begin, and your main goal is to keep Cloud safe. You’ll be facing a group of enemies consisting of three thieves, two squires, and one monk.


Once you defeat him in battle, Cloud will ask to accompany you. If you agree, he’ll become a playable character, and he comes equipped with his signature weapon, the Materia Blade!

Cloud is a strong, close-combat fighter who deals a lot of damage, especially with his Limit talent! He joins the game relatively late, which might require you to adjust your current team. However, investing time to learn his extra skills could definitely be worthwhile.
