In the world of Call of Duty, particularly since Modern Warfare 2019, Skill-based Matchmaking (SBMM) has been a hot topic. With SBMM, players are given a skill ranking and then paired with others who have comparable ratings. Initially, it was not possible to view this ranking, but if you reach out to Activision, they can provide it for you.
In the month of April 2024, Activision published an extensive document outlining the mechanics behind matchmaking in Call of Duty games. The system takes multiple elements into account, with player skill and performance playing a significant role in determining the matches you’re placed in.
They explained that a player’s skill level is evaluated through various aspects of their gameplay such as the number of kills, deaths, victories, defeats, and other factors like game mode choices and recent performances. However, you couldn’t ascertain your own skill ranking at that point.
As a long-time Call of Duty fan and gamer, I can confidently say that the recent update for Black Ops 6 and Warzone has been a game changer! Previously, it was always a bit frustrating not knowing my exact skill level in these games, but now, Activision has finally made it possible to see your own number assigned to your skill. This is fantastic news for me, as I’ve spent countless hours perfecting my gaming skills and this update allows me to see the fruits of my labor.
However, I always prioritize security and privacy when it comes to my personal data, so I appreciate that Activision has made it clear that you shouldn’t share your information with any third-party websites or services. It’s important for us gamers to protect our data and keep our gaming experience safe and enjoyable.
So, if you haven’t already, make sure to check out the latest update in Black Ops 6 and Warzone! You’ll be able to see your skill level and continue improving your gameplay with confidence. Happy gaming!

- Once done, confirm you’re not a robot then accept Activision’s Terms of Use.
- Then, hit ‘submit request.’
- Ask to be notified by email if your request changes, and then keep an eye on your emails for your data to be sent through.
YouTuber TheXclusiveAce shared the trick and said it took him around a day to receive the email. It arrived as an HTML folder but you can import it to something like Google Sheets to see all your data. But be careful sharing it as it comes, as it’ll also include your IP address and other personal info.
Upon finishing, you’ll have access to comprehensive details about every match you’ve played since Vanguard. For each game, a skill rating will be assigned to you which adjusts based on your performance. My rating hasn’t been determined yet, but XclusiveAce typically hovers around 400.
Using this figure, you’ll be capable of observing the effect your latest Warzone and BO6 battles have had on your skill level, which might explain why certain games seem significantly harder than others. Although you won’t be able to view the lobby’s skill rating directly, you’ll only see your own.
As we’re still exploring this new finding, we’re unsure what constitutes an excellent skill level at the moment. However, as more players submit their feedback and reveal their scores, we’ll gain a clearer understanding of it.
Despite ongoing concerns about skill-based matchmaking in Black Ops 6, players are abandoning games at higher rates than before, and even a renowned NBA player has voiced complaints. Regardless of how good you think you are, the matches will still seem challenging.
