How to see Reels liked by friends on Instagram

Instagram is introducing a new function enabling users to view all the Reels their friends have favored within the platform.

Instagram is bringing back an updated version of one of its more contentious elements, designed specifically for the age of short videos. Now, a new tab within the Reels feed enables users to view videos that their friends have liked or added comments on.

In a recent video posted on his account, Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, introduced an update that resembles the former “activity” feed, which was eliminated in 2019 as part of efforts to reduce “stalking” tendencies.

As stated by Mosseri, the aim is to transform Instagram into a platform not only for viewing content but also for engaging with friends about it. In this revised feed, users can discover which friends have liked a Reel or added temporary comments on it. This change intends to foster interaction and discussion surrounding the content.

How to see Instagram Reels your friends have liked

If you have access to the new feature, here’s how to use it:

  1. Open the Reels Tab.
  2. In the top right corner, you’ll see an icon showing some of your friends. Tap on it.
  3. This will take you to a dedicated feed showcasing Reels that your friends have liked or added a note to.
  4. You can see which friends have liked each Reel and tap on their profiles to start a conversation directly.

To date, the feature has elicited a range of responses within the app community. Some users are pleased with the initiative to foster social bonds, yet others harbor concerns regarding privacy. Numerous individuals have voiced unease about their liked Reels being visible to friends, fearing it could reduce their inclination to engage with content openly.

As a gamer, I’m excited to hear that Instagram is slowly introducing a new feature in some countries, with plans to expand globally soon. The success of this feature will depend on how users strike a balance between engaging socially and maintaining their privacy preferences.
