How to Regrow Trees in Hytale

I’ve been seeing a lot of people ask how to get trees to grow back in Hytale, since it doesn’t happen automatically like in Minecraft. It’s actually pretty easy! All you need is some Essence of Life and the right crafting station, which you build at the Workbench. Here’s a quick guide on how to do it.

Here’s how to regrow trees in Hytale:

  • Trees regrow by crafting and placing saplings.
  • You can craft saplings via the Farmer’s Workbench.
  • To craft a Farmer’s Workbench go to a regular Workbench and craft it in the third tab.
  • You’ll need Tree Trunk from cutting down trees and Plant Fiber from tree leaves and bush blocks.
  • Place down the Farmer’s Workbench and open the third Saplings tab.
  • Select any sapling you want and craft it using Essence of Life (You get it form picking up carrots and other plant-life as well as in the fourth tab of the Farmer Workbench).
  • Place down saplings near your base but space them out by about 8 to 10 blocks.
  • They will grow into trees after a few days.

As a big fan of this game, I’ve learned it’s so important to plant tree saplings close to your base. Seriously, it saves a ton of time! If you don’t, you’ll end up spending more and more time each day just walking further and further to get wood. Now, you do need Essence of Life to plant them, so let me share how I farm that stuff.

How to Farm Essence of Life in Hytale

One of the best ways to get Essence of Life is to grow Wheat and other crops. You can convert these into Essence of Life using the Farmer’s Workbench – look for the fourth tab. It’s a bit of a process to get started: you’ll need a Hoe and some Essence of Life to craft a Wheat Seed Bag at the Farmer station (second tab). After that, find a good patch of land near water, use the Hoe to prepare the soil, and plant your wheat seeds. You can speed things up by crafting a Watering Can with Iron (first tab of the Farmer station) to water the wheat. Once the wheat is grown (after a few days), simply harvest it and convert it into Essence of Life using the fourth tab of the Workbench.
