In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, players can unlock Mega Dragalge, a new Mega Evolution introduced in Generation 9. While getting it requires some story progress, it’s not overly difficult. Mega Dragalge keeps its Poison- and Dragon-type abilities, but its stats are greatly improved, making it a strong choice in battle. Its appearance also changes, becoming larger and more impressive.
Getting some Mega Evolutions can take a little effort, as you often need to complete certain parts of the game and do extra things. For example, Mega Lucario in Pokémon Legends: Z-A requires finding a Riolu and becoming good friends with it to trigger the evolution. Mega Dragalge is much easier to get, though you might need to search for Skrelp in a specific area.

Finding Skrelp requires checking specific locations in Legends: Z-A. It isn’t available in the general Wild Zones. Instead, you’ll discover it in a limited area that becomes accessible as you progress through the main story. Specifically, after completing Main Mission 19 – where you search for Ivor’s sister, Gwynn, in the Lumiose Sewers – Skrelp will appear. Completing Side Mission 057 unlocks even more areas within the Sewers where you can find it.
You can find the Sewers in Magenta Sector 8, close to the Pokémon Center and the Saison Canal. Skrelp are commonly found inside, and this is the only location where you can catch them. If you’ve made enough progress in the game Legends: Z-A, you might also encounter Alpha Skrelp within the Sewers.
So, regular Skrelp are pretty chill – they won’t run away if you walk up to them. But watch out for Alpha Skrelp, they’ll attack as soon as they see you! Once you actually catch a Skrelp, you’ll need to grind it up to level 48 to get it to evolve into the awesome Dragalge.

To evolve your Dragalge, you’ll need its Mega Stone, Dragalgite. You can purchase Dragalgite for 240 Mega Shards from Quasartico Inc. once you’ve finished Main Mission 30 – that’s when it appears for sale. Once you have it, simply give Dragalgite to your Dragalge to trigger its Mega Evolution.
When you collect enough Mega Energy to fill the meter, you can Mega Evolve Dragalge into Mega Dragalge, whether you’re in a battle or not. Its Poison-type moves can be especially effective against Fairy- and Grass-type Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
