How to increase settlement cap in Civilization 7 (Civ 7)

In Civilization 7, a game focused on crafting civilizations, it’s no shock that you need to construct your own cities. While we might wish to build as many as possible, there is a restriction on that number. Although technically we can possess more settlements than the maximum, exceeding this limit results in a substantial Happiness penalty. To prevent our towns from rising up against us, it’s advisable not to disregard the limit entirely.

How to deal with this issue:

  1. New Technologies and Civics – read descriptions, some of them will grand you additional +1 settlement limit like Irrigation and Organized Military in the first age.
  2. Attributes – it is easy to forget about that, but your leaders also gain experience. You can exchange it on Attributes. Some of them will add a point to your city cap. Look for them in the Militaristic and Expansionist tabs.

Bear in mind that while each method is extensive, it’s important to note that you can’t construct an endless number of settlements. Choose carefully, focusing on the optimal and strategically sound locations.
