NBA 2K26 lets you earn Virtual Currency (VC) to level up your MyPLAYER and build your MyTEAM. If you’re wondering how to get more VC, we’ve put together a guide to help. Let’s get started!
How Do You Get VC in NBA 2K26?
There are a number of ways to earn VC in NBA 2K26, including:
- Playing MyCAREER Games
- Completing MyCAREER Quests
- Completing Each Level in Out of Bounds
- Answering Questions in NBA 2KTV
- Premium Pass Rewards
- Playing Certain Online Modes (i.e. Street Kings)
- Limited-Time Events
- Redeeming certain Locker Codes
- Buying VC Separately
Playing MyCAREER Games
The best way to consistently earn VC in NBA 2K26 is by playing MyCAREER. Just be aware that the difficulty level you choose will change how much VC and MyPOINTS you receive.
- Rookie – 30% VC & 75% MyPOINTS modifier
- Semi Pro – 60% VC & 85% MyPOINTS modifier
- Pro – 100% VC & 100% MyPOINTS modifier
- All-Star – 120% VC & 120% MyPOINTS modifier
- Superstar – 140% VC & 135% MyPOINTS modifier
- Hall of Fame – 160% VC & 150% MyPOINTS modifier
I usually suggest new players begin with Pro difficulty. If you’re experienced, try All-Star or Superstar for more Virtual Currency (VC). For the highest VC rewards, play on Hall of Fame difficulty. You can also customize the game length by adjusting the quarter length to fit your preferences.
Also, remember that your performance rating and in-game statistics impact how much virtual currency you earn. If you consistently score around 40 points and get more than 10 assists each game, you’ll earn a good amount of VC.
Some players choose to automatically finish games once they’ve reached a specific level or achieved certain stats. Just be careful to ensure you don’t risk your grade decreasing or your team losing before the simulation completes.
MyCAREER Quests
As you progress through MyCAREER, you’ll receive various quests, and many of them reward you with VC. You’ll even earn a little VC early on through introductory quests. Often, these quests are as simple as talking to a character.
As a player, I’ve found it really helpful to check the Quest screen in the pause menu. It lists everything I’m currently working on, and it’s great to see what rewards I’ll get for finishing each quest!
Certain quests let you meet characters who can help improve your progress when you’re not actively playing. Be sure to check them out to see what benefits they offer!
Out of Bounds
Before you start your NBA journey in MyCareer, you’ll first experience the “Out of Bounds” storyline. This section tells the story of your player’s beginnings and their efforts to reach the NBA. You’ll compete in different leagues, including some games played overseas in Europe, as you work towards your dream.
As a huge fan, I’ve figured out that it doesn’t really matter *who* you play as – whether it’s the High Flyas or Union Elite. And where you play doesn’t matter either, like France or Spain! No matter what team or location you choose, you *always* get some VC, which is awesome. It looks like all the different OoB options give you rewards!
Different missions offer varying amounts of VC. Dion’s Open run is particularly valuable, allowing you to earn up to 600 VC by achieving a three-star rating on your first try.
Watch 2KTV
Okay, so every Friday, a new episode of NBA 2KTV drops, and I usually watch it right in the game. There are a bunch of ways to find it, but honestly, the easiest thing to do is just go to the main menu and launch it from there. It saves me a lot of time!
Every episode includes questions, and answering them correctly can get you free VC. So, be sure to watch each new episode of NBA 2KTV weekly for a chance to earn more VC!

The City / Online / Events
When you’re in the city, try playing game modes like Street Kings to earn extra Virtual Currency (VC). I especially recommend Street Kings because you compete against computer-controlled opponents, making it a reliable way to quickly earn VC. You can play by yourself or team up with friends!
NBA 2K26 has lots of different game modes where you can earn VC. It might seem simple, but it’s worth exploring them all to see what each one offers. You could discover a new favorite way to play while also boosting your VC earnings!
Stay updated on the latest happenings in The City by following NBA 2K on social media. They often announce events where you can win Virtual Currency (VC) as a reward for participating.
Playing online has a few potential downsides. You’ll likely encounter very skilled players who dedicate a lot of time to the game, and some may have spent money to quickly improve their characters. Unfortunately, cheating also happens, and while developers work to prevent it, some players will always find ways to exploit the system.
Redeem Locker Codes
NBA 2K frequently releases locker codes that players can redeem for free in-game items. These rewards can include things like cards for MyTEAM, clothing for your MyPLAYER character, or virtual currency (VC).
Even though some locker codes offer better rewards than others, it’s always a good idea to try them all. Stay updated on the newest codes to see if you can earn valuable VC!
Premium Pass Rewards
The free Pro Pass lets you earn up to 80 rewards – 40 in MyTEAM and 40 in MyCAREER. If you want even more, you can buy the Premium Pass for 40 extra rewards. In total, there are a lot of opportunities to earn VC!
If you buy the pass, be sure to finish all 40 levels. That way, you’ll get the most rewards possible for the season.
Although we generally advise against buying things within games you’ve already paid for, the Premium Pass does at least offer some extra content for your money.
Buying VC Separately
Lastly, and least recommended, is the ability to purchase VC separately.
We DO NOT recommend doing this though, because:
- Your VC does not transfer over to the next NBA 2K game &
- VC is expensive!
Microtransactions in video games feel exploitative and shouldn’t be a part of the gaming experience. Despite really enjoying NBA 2K26, these purchases prevent me from giving it a perfect rating.
Because your Virtual Currency doesn’t carry over between games, you can only use it for a single playthrough. Given how costly it can be to improve your MyPLAYER, I strongly advise against buying VC with real money.
This covers everything you need to know about earning VC in NBA 2K26. We hope this guide helps you get a head start on improving your player!
