Like other Metroid Prime games, Metroid Prime 4 takes you on an adventure through different areas of the planet Viewros.
Okay, so I finally beat Carvex and got the first Mass Teleport Key – awesome! Now it’s time to head to the next area, Volt Forge. Let’s do this!
You don’t start in Volt Forge; the game begins in the harsh desert of Sol Valley. This naturally leads to the question of how to reach Volt Forge. Our guide will walk you through the necessary steps to progress in Metroid Prime 4‘s story.
Don’t worry, you’re leaving Myles behind in Fury Green.
Navigating Through Sol Valley

When you start in Sol Valley, it seems like a huge, open world desert. But your next destination isn’t actually that far. Follow the path towards the settlement you see in the distance, and head for the gate. As you get close, it will automatically open.
Head into the open area – a cinematic will begin, and you’ll suddenly face waves of enemies protecting Chrono Tower. Your companion, Myles, will warn you they’re tough, but as Samus Aran, the renowned bounty hunter, you’re more than capable of handling them.
If you’re looking to 100% the game, make sure you scan everything!
Head towards the building directly ahead. On your right, use the ledges to jump upwards until you find an open vent. Switch to morph ball mode to fit inside, and it will take you inside the building.
Inside
Head down the hallway to your right. You’ll see some glass that needs to be destroyed – shoot a missile at it to create an opening, then jump through.
After you pass through the glass door, you’ll find a hallway, but don’t go down it. Instead, look to your left for a vent that needs to be destroyed. Fire another missile to create an opening, then switch to your morph ball and go inside.
You’ll enter a long hallway that looks like it was built for a motorcycle – though we don’t have one at the moment. You’ll see the front door, but it’s locked and can’t be opened yet. Turn around and walk further into the hallway, and a cutscene will begin.
Once you’ve watched Samus finish her run, you’ll be able to control her again. Then, look to your left – you’ll spot a platform with boxes and a small tunnel nearby.
Destroy the boxes, then transform into a morph ball and roll into the tunnel. This will take you on a journey to Volt Forge, the next area in Metroid Prime 4.
Entering Volt Forge
You’ll start on a platform, but the path forward is fairly straightforward. Scan and open the gate to reach an area that looks like an aircraft carrier, filled with things you can scan.
After you finish that, go through the next gate. You’ll find the Vi-O-La Bike waiting for you in the next room. However, you’ll need a special suit to get it running, and getting that suit is another challenge altogether.
