But the original Pokemon GO continues to thrive, constantly adding new and interesting features. Currently, a new in-game event, Steel Skyline, is beginning. With it comes a brand new Pokemon: Duraludon. This guide will provide you with everything you need to know to catch this new pocket monster.

How to get Duraludon in Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO successfully combines the fun of video games with the benefits of being active outdoors. The Pokemon franchise itself is well-established, which helps keep the game popular. However, regular updates are essential to maintain that popularity. Beginning today (September 30th, 2025, at 10:00AM local time) and running until October 7th, 2025, at 8:00PM local time, an event called Steel Skyline is happening. A key feature of this event is a new Pokemon – Dynamax Duraludon. However, catching it won’t be easy; it will take some work.

If you’re looking to test your skills and catch the new Dragon and Steel-type monster, you’ll need to take part in Max Battles. You’ll encounter Duraludon in Four-Star Max Battles. But that’s not the only option for getting this new Pokémon. You can also try to complete Field Research tasks. Dynamax Duraludon is a potential reward for finishing these tasks, so that’s another route you can take if you’re hoping for some good luck.

In addition to the new Pokémon, Duraludon, and activities such as Max Battles or Field Research, Steel Skyline has much more to offer.

Glabal Challenges

The central focus of the event will be the Global Challenges. Successfully finishing these throwing competitions will grant you special bonuses that last for the duration of the event. There are 3 tiers of rewards available:

Level 1

  1. Extra Candy for successful pokemon catch which ended with Nice, Great and Excellent Throws,
  2. Trainers at level 31 or higher will have an increased chance of receiving Candy XL for Nice, Great and Excellent Throws resulting in successful pokemon catch.

Level 2

  1. Extra 5,000 XP for raid battles.

Level 3

  1. Guaranteed Rare Candy XL for won in-person Max Battles.

Timed Research

Free Timed Research will be offered throughout the event. Completing these research tasks will grant you several rewards, including:

  1. XP,
  2. Stardust,
  3. One Magnetic Lure Module,
  4. Encounters with event-themed pokemon.

Paid Timed Research

If you’d like to support this event, you can contribute $2 (or the equivalent in your currency) to unlock additional, event-only Timed Research. Completing this research will reward you with the following:

  1. Stardust,
  2. Max Particles,
  3. Battle with Dynamax Duraludon.

But the developers have said there will be even more rewards coming. It’s also important to remember that you can’t obtain the tickets using PokeCoins.

Naturally, as the event progresses, you’ll begin to see certain Pokémon appearing more often. These include:

  2. Magnemite
  3. Grimer
  4. Alolan Grimer
  5. Porygon
  6. Aron
  7. Bronzor
  8. Trubbish
  9. Klink
  10. Axew
  11. Togedemaru
  12. Galarian Meowth
  13. Skarmory
  14. Mawile
