If you’re playing Octopath Traveler II, you’ll know that rebuilding Wishvale is a major goal. This town has been your character’s home for a long time, but it was recently destroyed by fire.
To help restore Wishvale, you’ll need to complete the Kindlers of the Flame questline. This involves constructing buildings throughout the town, including a museum.
Honestly, building this thing is proving to be a real challenge! Some of the items you need are super hard to find. Like, I’m seriously struggling to get the Musician’s Instrument in Octopath Traveler – it’s a pain!
What is the Musician’s Instrument Used For?
Once you finish Chapter 5 of Kindlers of the Flame, you’ll start working on expanding your town further. This time, instead of constructing a building the town already has – like the Training Grounds – you’ll be building a museum.
To construct the museum, you’ll need to gather three things: high-quality stone, high-quality cloth, and a Musician’s Instrument. The instrument is the most unusual item, as it’s not typically found while exploring the world of Octopath Traveler II.
Once you’ve gathered enough of each of these three items, you can construct the museum and continue the story. As far as I know, the Musician’s Instrument doesn’t have any other purpose, and there’s only one available in the game.
Where to Find the Musician’s Instrument
In Octopath Traveler II, you can find a Musician’s Instrument held by the Former Merchant in Shepherd’s Rock. To find it, head to the Castle Square area of the town.
Once you reach this spot, go into the house to the left of the fountain. You’ll find the Former Merchant there. Talk to him and choose the ‘Entreat’ option.
He currently has the Musician’s Instrument. When I spoke with him, there was a 23% chance I could get it, depending on how well he knew me.
The more you play and the better your reputation, the more likely you are to get this item. But be careful – if you fail, your reputation in town will suffer.
If your reputation drops, you can restore it by paying a fee at the tavern.
What is the Purpose of the Museum?
After you collect everything and finish building the museum in Wishvale, you’ll see a scene with a composer visiting the town. Once that scene ends, you’ll get the town’s music score.
The museum also lets you listen to the game’s soundtrack. You can find these music tracks as you explore the game world.
Every music score you find will be displayed in the museum. You can listen to them by using the podium at the back of the building.
