Crimson Desert lets you have Pets join you as you explore the world of Pywel. They’re cute companions, but also helpful – they can find items for Kliff while you’re adventuring. If you’re new to the game and want to know how to get and use Pets, this guide will explain everything you need to know.
How Do You Get a Pet in Crimson Desert?
In Crimson Desert, you need to become close to an animal – reach a trust level of 100 – before you can have it as a pet. There are multiple ways to build that trust.
- Petting the Animal (limited to 5 times per day)
- Feeding the Animal (limited amount each day)
You can build trust with Dogs and Cats by petting them up to five times each day, earning a total of +25 Trust. Petting them more than that won’t give you any additional Trust until the next day. Fortunately, there’s also a faster way to increase your trust levels.
A faster way to interact with animals is by feeding them. Dogs enjoy bones and grilled meat, while cats prefer fish, milk, or bird meat. Simply drop the food item from your inventory near the animal. Just like petting, you can only do this a limited number of times each day.
You can easily gain a new Pet in just two days by using both friendship-building methods. When the animal’s trust reaches 100, press and hold the X button on Xbox or the Square button on PlayStation to adopt them.
If you can’t find your pet one day, don’t worry – it hasn’t left the game! Try checking the area where you first met it around the same time of day. For example, if you found a Beagle at 2:00 PM, look again around 2:00 PM the next day. If you still can’t find it, keep revisiting the area regularly – it should reappear eventually.
Overall, getting a Pet in Crimson Desert is quite easy, and very beneficial for players.
What Pets Can Do In Crimson Desert?
Pets in Crimson Desert aren’t just adorable companions—they’re helpful in gameplay too! Dogs and cats will automatically scavenge loot from defeated enemies, making it much faster and easier to collect items after a battle.
I found that enemies outside the Fort Warspike Bleed Bandit Camp would respawn whenever I returned, as long as I hadn’t beaten the Fort Commander (the one with the shotguns). I took advantage of this by repeatedly fighting the waves of enemies while my pet collected the loot.
However, keep two things in mind:
First, don’t rely on your pets to fight battles for you. Your pet won’t be taking out enemies on its own. Second, pets will grab absolutely everything they can find, so be sure to regularly check your inventory to avoid collecting unwanted items.
