Okay, so awesome news for Pokemon Go players! The Pinch Perfect event is live, and we’ve got two new Pokemon to hunt. First up is Klawf, a cool rock-type crab that I’m adding to my team right away. But the biggest news for me? Shiny Dhelmise is finally available! This is my first chance to actually catch one, so I’m definitely going to be grinding for it.
Both Klawf and Dhelmise are now available in the game, but it’s easiest to find them during the current Pinch Perfect event. Here’s how to catch both, including the shiny version of Dhelmise, before the event is over.

How To Get Klawf

Even though Klawf was featured prominently in the Pinch Perfect event, it won’t appear naturally in the game or as a Raid boss. You can only find it by completing specific Field and Timed Research tasks.
For a limited time, until January 11th, Pokémon GO will have free, special Research tasks tied to current events. Instead of getting them from the Today View, you’ll find these tasks by spinning the discs at PokeStops. Most tasks will give you Stardust or Poke Balls, but completing the “Win a Raid” task will let you encounter either a Klawf or a Dhelmise.
Plus, during the event, you can complete three free Timed Research questlines. Finishing each one will let you battle Klawf, and you’ll also earn XP and Stardust. If you want even more chances to catch Klawf and complete extra tasks, you can buy a Timed Research Ticket in the in-game shop.
Pinch Perfect Timed Research
These are the Timed Research questlines that will be available during the Pinch Perfect event:
Dwebble Timed Research (January 6-8)
- Catch 5 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
- Catch 10 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
- Catch 15 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
- Catch 20 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
- Catch 25 Pokemon – Dwebble encounter
Reward: 950 XP, 950 Stardust, Klawf encounter
Can Klawf Be Shiny?
Okay, so as a Pokémon Go player, I’ve learned that Klawf can’t be shiny right now. Basically, no matter how many Klawf you find in the game, they won’t sparkle! Niantic hasn’t said when shiny Klawf will be available, but usually they release new shiny Pokémon during special events, so I’m guessing we’ll see a shiny Klawf as part of a future event. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
How To Get Shiny Dhelmise
Good news for Pokémon trainers: shiny Dhelmise is now available! Keep an eye out for this ghost/grass type – it has a chance of appearing with red seaweed instead of the usual green.
Similar to Klawf, you can find Dhelmise by finishing specific Field Research tasks during the event. It will also be appearing in Gyms as a three-star Raid boss, so battling in as many Dhelmise Raids as possible will give you the best chance of finding a shiny one.
The Pinch Perfect event is happening now through January 11th, and there’s more to come in Pokémon Go this month! Keep an eye out for Grookey Community Day and a Precious Pals celebration. You can find details on all of January’s events in our complete guide.
