How To Upgrade Weapons in Ninja Gaiden 4
A highlight of the Ninja Gaiden series is definitely trying out all the different weapons.
Okay, yeah, Ryu’s Dragon Blade is super famous, but honestly? Just using the same overpowered weapon isn’t what makes a great player. For me, becoming a true master is all about experimenting with everything a game offers – finding those crazy, broken combos and builds that no one else has discovered. That’s where the real fun is!
In Ninja Gaiden 4, players can find and improve five different weapons. Each weapon offers a unique way to play, but you’ll need to unlock them first.
So, how do you get all the weapons in Ninja Gaiden 4? We’ve got a guide to help you do just that.
Every Weapon in Ninja Gaiden 4
Okay, so in Ninja Gaiden 4, there are five weapons total. You begin with the standard one, and then you unlock three more just by playing through the story. But the last one? That’s a real challenge – you’ve gotta earn it by proving you’re good enough to wield it.
| Weapon | How To Obtain |
|---|---|
| Takeminakata | Default weapon. You start the game with this. |
| Yatousen | Obtained after defeating Kitsune Courtesan in Chapter 3: Phantom Pleasure Quarter |
| Magatsuhi | Obtained after defeating Kurobo in Chapter 7: Altar of the Mountain God |
| Kage-Hiruko | Obtained after defeating Cetus in Chapter 10: Bounding Spirits. |
| Dark Dragon Blade | Defeat every boss in the Boss Trials mode. |
How To Upgrade Weapons in Ninja Gaiden 4
Getting a new weapon in Ninja Gaiden 4 is only the beginning. As you play, you can improve and strengthen it, learning new, more powerful moves along the way.
As a Ninja Gaiden fan, I’ve figured out that upgrading your weapons in the new game is pretty straightforward. You basically earn Weapon EXP just by taking down enemies, and that’s what you use to make your weapons stronger. It’s a nice, simple system!
As you improve your skills with each weapon, you’ll gain access to even stronger attacks. Usually, this works by first learning a basic attack, which then unlocks a more powerful attack using the Bloodraven form.
“Hold up,” you may be asking. “What is a Bloodraven form attack?” I’m glad you asked!
Okay, so I figured out that holding down the Left Trigger lets me unleash Bloodraven attacks – basically my strongest moves! And get this, they don’t just block enemy power attacks, they actually stagger them, which means I can really pile on the damage after! It’s a game changer.
Timing your Bloodraven attacks is especially vital during boss fights. Staggering the boss with these attacks allows you to deal extra damage, which is key to winning, particularly on harder difficulty levels.
Each weapon in Ninja Gaiden 4 has strengths and weaknesses. Choose the one that fits how you like to play, and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a Master Ninja.
