Pokemon Go is kicking off the fall season with a special Harvest Festival event running from October 10th to 16th. Keep an eye out for more fall-themed Pokemon like Miltank, Smoliv, and Combee! The biggest news is the debut of two new Pokemon: Dipplin and its evolved form, Hydrapple.
Dipplin is a new way for Applin to evolve, first appearing in the Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Similar to Applin’s other evolutions, you’ll need to find a special item – Syrupy Apples – to get one, and they can be tricky to find. Here’s a guide to help you evolve Applin into Dipplin and Hydrapple in Pokemon Go.

How To Get Dipplin
The simplest way to get a Dipplin is by evolving an Applin, but it takes some preparation. You’ll need to gather 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples to start the evolution process.
Syrupy Apples are a new item available during the Harvest Festival event, and you can find them at PokeStops. Collect enough, and you can evolve Applin into Dipplin directly from its Pokemon information screen.
How To Get Syrupy Apples
Just like Sweet and Tart Apples (used to evolve Applin into Appletun or Flapple), Syrupy Apples are mainly found at PokeStops. Place a Mossy Lure Module at a PokeStop, and Syrupy Apples will show up on the map from time to time while the lure is working.
To get an apple, just tap it on the screen. Keep in mind that sometimes tapping an apple will instead start a battle with a wild Pokemon, so you might need to try a few times to collect the apples you want.
How To Evolve Dipplin Into Hydrapple
To evolve Dipplin into Hydrapple, you no longer need Syrupy Apples. Instead, it takes 400 Applin Candy. Plus, you’ll need to catch seven different Dragon-type Pokémon with Dipplin as your buddy – an extra step to complete the evolution.
Getting 400 Applin Candy can take a while, but you can speed things up. With Applin appearing more often during the Harvest Festival, always use a Pinap Berry when you catch one – this doubles the candy you receive. You can also use any Rare Candy you’ve saved to instantly create Applin Candy, helping you reach 400 much faster.
Can Dipplin And Hydrapple Be Shiny?
Shiny Applin isn’t available in Pokémon Go yet, which means you can’t currently find shiny Dipplin or Hydrapple either. There’s no news on when shiny Applin will appear in the game, but new shiny Pokémon usually show up during special events, so it will probably be released as part of one in the future.
The Harvest Festival is happening now and runs until October 16th, but that’s not all! October also brings a special Pokemon Legends: Z-A event and our yearly Halloween festivities. Check out our Pokemon Go October events guide for full details on everything coming up in the next few weeks.
