In Borderlands 4, one of the initial significant challenges players encounter is during the Quest titled “Recruitment Drive”. Here, players are unexpectedly asked to secure permission for an elevator ride.
Following a swift completion of the tutorial and a tense struggle to achieve optimal settings, your progress in the mission grinds to a standstill as Claptrap remains on the other side of a locked elevator. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t provide clear indications as to where you should locate this access code, causing frustration for players who either circle aimlessly or backtrack through the level in search of the elusive solution.
As a dedicated fan, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of incompleteness. But lo and behold, the answer was staring me right in the face, if only I knew where to focus my gaze! To unravel the mystery and ensure Claptrap keeps on rolling in Borderlands 4, here’s the secret to unlocking that elevator:
1. Navigate to the location you believe the elevator is hidden (It’s typically in areas where a storyline progression or significant event occurs).
2. Search your surroundings for any interactive objects or characters that may provide hints about the elevator. Clues can often be found in dialogue, environmental cues, or even item descriptions.
3. Once you’ve located the elevator, interact with it to reveal its controls (usually a button or lever). If there’s a puzzle involved, solve it according to the clues provided during your investigation.
4. Activate the elevator and guide Claptrap aboard for a ride to new adventures!
Clearance for the elevator location in Recruitment Drive
At the conclusion of the Recruitment Drive, when you step into the elevator, you might find that it doesn’t work as expected. Many players may think they’ve overlooked a switch or there’s a glitch, but what you actually require is a clearance key found on a nearby corpse.
After you’ve faced the direction of the railing near the elevator platform, you should notice a fallen Timekeeper gang member leaning against a box. He appears to be unconscious or injured.
Engage with him, communicate, and he’ll unintentionally reveal a crucial artifact – a key resembling a bolt that was embedded in his person. This key is essential for activating the elevator.
To ensure you don’t miss it, approach closely as the interactive prompt is subtle and only becomes visible when you’re near the device. Once you’re close enough, you should see the button appear.
After picking up the Bolt, make your way back to the control panel to trigger the elevator. Claptrap will hop on board to follow, moving us forward into the safehouse phase of the mission.
Finishing this task not only wraps up the Recruitment Drive mission but also grants you access to your initial sanctuary. This location offers vending machines for equipment, a quick travel spot, and some early side missions to get you started. From here, the narrative begins to expand, but overcoming the elevator puzzle serves as your first significant challenge.
