How To Get And Use The Afterglow Pendant In Where Winds Meet

If you’ve ever dreamed of living in a Wuxia world, Where Winds Meet delivers plenty of drama and memorable, larger-than-life characters. It balances exciting action with genuine heart and humor. And no Wuxia story is complete without incredible feats of agility – that’s where the game’s ‘Grand Lightness Skills’ come in, letting you leap and soar through the air!

Grand Lightness Skills are flashy and dramatic, with exaggerated animations and camera work, but they allow you to quickly traverse the game world. However, you’ll need to unlock these skills first. Even after unlocking them, you’ll also need the Afterglow Pendant to truly move around the map with incredible speed.

How To Begin The Afterglow Side Quest

Although the Afterglow quest isn’t required to use Grand Lightness skills, it’s a helpful introduction to the system and rewards you with Meteor Flight—the first Grand Lightness skill most players unlock.

You can find this quest near Heaven’s Pier, along the southern coast. Look for a man standing on the shore, watching the boats. It’s a ‘Lost Chapter’ quest in the game, marked by a blue icon on your map, so keep an eye out for it.

When you find the Old Fisherman, talk to him to discover his expertise in Grand Lightness skills, especially Meteor Flight. He won’t teach just anyone, though – you’ll need to demonstrate that you’re worthy of learning his abilities.

Completing The Old Fisherman’s Challenges

To learn the Old Fisherman’s secrets, you first need to reach his boat. The problem is it’s out on the water, and you can’t touch the water to get there. If you can’t manage a short trip to the boat, how will you ever learn to fly?

Luckily, this puzzle isn’t as hard as you might think. The Old Fisherman has placed a line of jars floating on the water, creating a walkway to his boat. All you need to do is jump from jar to jar without falling in! It’s pretty simple.

It’s simpler than you might think! Each jar has a slight pull, so if you get close enough, it will automatically draw you in. You can still step off, but try to stay steady. If you fall off any jar, you’ll need to restart the whole thing.

Remember, you can do a triple jump in this game! Plus, you can get a little extra distance by dashing once while you’re in the air.

When you reach the boat, the Old Fisherman is waiting and, pleased with what you’ve done, gives you the spear and a guide. The guide explains how to use Meteor Flight, but as the Old Fisherman walks away, you overhear him saying that skill alone isn’t enough. Probably not important, though! Time to try flying!

Unlocking The Afterglow Pendant

You crash land in the sea and swim back to shore, where the Old Fisherman is waiting. He mentioned needing something extra – that’s the Afterglow Pendant. However, he’s very unclear about where to find it.

He told me he’d shown it on your map, but it wasn’t there. He also said you could find it in the Palace of Annals, which turned out to be false. He insists that simply taking action will bring what you’re looking for to you, and that’s really how it works.

The Afterglow Pendant is a reward you get for exploring the Qinghe region. Once you reach Exploration Level 4, you’ll receive the pendant, which allows you to use Grand Lightness skills anywhere in Qinghe. You increase your Exploration Level by earning Exploration Experience, and this experience is specific to each region. The good news is you gain experience from almost everything you do in Qinghe – completing quests, collecting items, and even filling out the oddity collection all contribute!

Okay, so I finally got the Afterglow Pendant, and it’s awesome! I can use those Grand Lightness Skills whenever I feel like it, even without finishing the Afterglow quest. But, I can head back to the Old Fisherman if I want to officially wrap things up with him.

Just a reminder that the Afterglow Pendant only works with Grand Lightness skills in the Qinghe region. If you want to use these skills in Kaifeng, you’ll need to obtain Kaifeng’s special Grand Lightness item.

How To Use Grand Lightness Skills

Getting the Afterglow Pendant might seem like a major milestone, making you think you’re halfway through the Qinghe area, but there’s still a lot more to discover. The world is full of surprises, and you’ll find yourself running all over the map completing quests. Luckily, having the Grand Lightness skill will make getting around much easier.

Using these is incredibly easy. Simply hold the jump button to launch into the air. A new meter will appear on the screen, filling up as you ascend. Press the jump button again each time it hits a marker to continue the skill. You can also end it anytime by pressing the left thumbstick to perform a quick descent, landing directly below you.

If you find the camera work during Grand Lightness skills too dramatic, you can adjust the camera settings to change it.

All Grand Lightness skills work in a similar way, even though they look different. You can choose which one to use from the Mystic Arts menu. However, you need to unlock each skill individually, so you’ll probably be using Meteor Flight most of the time at first.
