Fishing is available in Crimson Desert, but it can be tricky to learn at first. The game offers a tutorial, but many players – including myself – find it a bit confusing. That’s why we put together this guide to help you successfully catch fish and secure your next meal!
Crimson Desert Fishing Guide – How Do You Fish?
Overall, the steps to Fishing in Crimson Desert include:
- Acquire a Fishing Rod
- Approach a body of water
- Equip the Rod, then press and release L2/LT to cast a line
- Press R2 when the fish takes a bite
- Use the Left Analog Stick to tire out the Fish
- Rotate the Right Stick to reel in the tired Fish
To start fishing in Crimson, you’ll need a Fishing Rod. You can either buy one from the Provisioner’s shop for 15 copper coins, or get it for free by helping Annabelle with a request just outside of Hernand. Getting a Fishing Rod is the simplest part of the process.
Okay, so I’ve got my fishing rod, now I need to find some water! It looks like different fish hang out in different spots in Crimson Desert, so I might need to do a little digging to find the exact one I’m after. Luckily, I can chat with vendors or just random people I meet in the world to learn about the different types of fish, and they’ll even tell me where to find them. That’s a huge help!
But for those just wanting to learn how to fish, any body of water will do.
How To Fish in Crimson Desert?
To fish in Crimson Desert, simply go near any water and equip your Fishing Rod. You can find and select it using the equipment wheel.
To fish, equip your rod, then hold down the aim button (L2/LT) and release to cast your line. Watch for a bite – you’ll see a prompt on screen when a fish is hooked. Press the hook button (R2/RT) to reel it in!
After a fish bites, don’t reel it in immediately. Instead, gently pull the left stick in the opposite direction the fish is swimming to wear it out. Once the fish stops struggling, you can start reeling it in.
Use the right analog stick to reel in your catch. You might need to cast and reel a few times, especially with longer casts, but it gets easier once you get the hang of it.
Tips on Finding Specific Fish
Okay, so in Crimson Desert, you’ll probably end up needing to fish, and some of these fish are seriously tricky to find! But don’t worry, the more you learn about them – basically, the more ‘Knowledge’ you get – the easier it becomes. It tells you everything you need to actually catch the fish you’re after.
You can learn about most fish simply by visiting vendors – you don’t even need to catch them! Just move your cursor over fish icons that have a dark outline to see information about that fish.
So, that pretty much covers everything about fishing in Crimson Desert! Honestly, it’s become a big part of my gameplay – I’m always trying to reel in the best ingredients. You really need to stock up on food for those tough boss fights, and fishing is a great way to do it. There are tons of ways to get supplies in this game, but I’ve found fishing to be super reliable. Good luck to everyone out there trying to fill their inventories!
