A video of Taylor Frankie Paul, who was set to star on The Bachelorette, throwing barstools at her then-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, caused major problems for two TV shows. ABC pulled Paul’s season of The Bachelorette, and filming for season five of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was immediately halted. Now, as people discuss the decisions made by the shows’ parent company, Disney, and question the casting process, Paul’s fellow “MomTok” influencers are sharing their reactions. Here’s what the stars of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives have said about the situation.
Layla Taylor
Taylor, who has shared her own experience as a survivor of domestic violence on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, recently explained why she felt it was important to address the issue publicly. In a post on her Instagram Stories, she wrote that her past compels her to speak out against all forms of domestic violence, though she didn’t name anyone involved. She expressed her concern for the children involved and hopes they remain safe.
Miranda Hope
Hope, known for her involvement in the controversy with Paul that brought the “MomTok” community to prominence, recently shared a message on Instagram condemning domestic violence. She expressed being overwhelmed by recent events, stating, “It’s been really hard to process everything I’ve seen.” She emphasized her strong opposition to all forms of abuse, particularly as a mother, and voiced her support for the children involved, hoping they receive safety, care, and love.
Demi Engemann
Both Taylor and Hope publicly condemned domestic violence without accusing anyone specific. However, Engemann could plausibly deny that her recent posts were about Paul. She shared a now-deleted Story featuring a meme celebrating the joys of being a housewife. It read, “Bills are paid, my husband is hot, our marriage is strong, the kids are happy & healthy. I feel so damn rich.” Engemann added, “My version of peace that no one could ever destroy, no matter how hard some have tried.” She concluded, “The best revenge truly is living well, and I’ll always believe that.”
