How Sam Wilson Defeated the Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World!

In summary, the conclusion of Captain America: A New World Order carries significant ramifications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe ahead – plus an encounter with the Red Hulk, which concludes as follows.

As a passionate admirer, I’d share that the latest film chronicles my journey as Sam Wilson, now Captain America, delving into a sinister plan aimed at igniting World War III, undermining President Thaddeus Ross, and ultimately seeking to end his life.

This situation ultimately brings him face to face with Samuel Sterns, also known as the Leader – a biologist who was contaminated by Bruce Banner’s blood in The Incredible Hulk. At this point, he harbors a desire for retribution (which we’ll delve into later), and Ross serves as an ideal means to carry out his vengeance.

The climax unfolds on Celestial Island, which was once Tiamut and now holds something stronger than Vibranium – Adamantium. But for Sam, Starks has a surprise up his sleeve that goes beyond this.

The Leader’s plan with President Ross explained

At the conclusion of Captain America: Brave New World, it’s disclosed that Ross had imprisoned Sterns at Camp Echo One for a period of 16 years following the occurrences in The Incredible Hulk. By boosting his gamma radiation exposure, Sterns developed a superhuman intellect, capable of resolving calculations deemed impossible.

Yet, this change didn’t come without a price: It significantly altered his physical features, causing his skin to turn green and his brain to protrude from his skull.

Nevertheless, it wasn’t free: It brought about drastic changes in his looks, manifesting as a greenish complexion and a bulging brain visible through his skull.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but acknowledge that Ross had a strategic goal throughout his journey: he leveraged Sterns as a personal problem-solver, essentially turning him into a think tank for all his challenges. Without a doubt, it was Sterns who significantly contributed to his presidential victory. But there’s more to their relationship than meets the eye. Ross relied on Sterns for another crucial purpose: he was battling mortality, and Sterns developed life-extending pills to keep him alive.

The initial phase of his scheme unfolded successfully. The medication proved effective, containing gamma radiation, and Sterns consistently escalated the dosage over time. Similarly to Banner, if Ross becomes agitated, he metamorphoses into the Red Hulk – a transformation that might not sit well with a president in office.

Apart from transforming Ross into a potential explosion, Sterns switched his attention to Adamantium. He employed funds from the CIA’s black operations to recruit Sidewinder and mercenaries for the purpose of stealing Japan’s sample. Since Japan’s intelligence agencies would eventually discover this act, they were likely to assume that Ross was involved.

Additionally, he devised a means of mental manipulation, inducing specific individuals through the melodious tune ‘Mr Blue’ by The Fleetwoods. This method is responsible for Isaiah’s attempt to harm Ross at the beginning of the movie, and it’s also the root cause of the turmoil on Celestial Island.

Through US fighter pilot’s headsets, Sterns plays music that compels them to assault Japanese naval forces. Fortunately, Captain America intervenes in time, preventing disaster, and Sterns is arrested prior to General Ross transforming into the Red Hulk.

Sam beats Red Hulk at the end of Captain America: Brave New World

Towards the end of Captain America: Brave New World, President Ross appears content. He engages in conversation with Betty, signifying that the Adamantium predicament has been dealt with, and tranquility has been reinstated.

Yet, whenever journalists challenge him, his temper flares up. At this point, the Leader broadcasts a message, fueling his fury further. Unable to contain himself, he transforms into the Red Hulk in the White House, much to the dismay of his staff who try to guide him back.

Sam shows up, however, this encounter is far from being a balanced match. The Giant Red Hulk overpowers him, propelling him into and beyond the White House, and chases him across Washington D.C., covering vast distances and causing destruction as he leaps through trees.

In this intense battle, Sam kept countering his opponent’s attacks and inflicting wounds, while skillfully dodging retaliation – until the Red Hulk overpowered him, tearing off one of his wings. Fortunately, the wing constructed by the Wakandans was able to absorb an incredible amount of energy, so when Sam impaled him with it, a massive explosion ensued that knocked them both unconscious.

1. It doesn’t persist for a while: As Sam is rescued from the debris, the Red Hulk grows more enraged. This time, Sam manages to calm him down by asking him to “demonstrate to Betty” that he can overcome his anger. Just a short while later, Ross returns to his usual self.

2. It doesn’t endure for long: Extracting Sam from the rubble, the Red Hulk becomes more furious. In this instance, Sam succeeds in calming him down by urging him to “show Betty” that he can conquer his rage. Shortly after, Ross reverts to his normal state.

3. It doesn’t persist for much time: With Sam freed from the wreckage, the Red Hulk becomes increasingly irate. In this situation, Sam is able to soothe him by requesting that he “demonstrate to Betty” his ability to control his anger. Before long, Ross transforms back into his regular self.

4. It doesn’t continue for a considerable period: Rescuing Sam from the debris, the Red Hulk grows more enraged. In this instance, Sam successfully calms him down by imploring him to “demonstrate to Betty” that he can master his rage. Not long after, Ross reverts to his normal condition.

5. It doesn’t stretch out for a while: Extracting Sam from the debris, the Red Hulk becomes more enraged. In this case, Sam manages to calm him down by requesting that he “demonstrate to Betty” his ability to suppress his anger. Soon after, Ross transforms back into his regular form.

The Falcon is Sam’s first new Avenger

Following his tough battle against the Red Hulk that left him with several fractures, Sam makes a visit to the hospital to check on Joaquin – also known as the Falcon – who had collided with the Indian Ocean near Celestial Island.

Joaquin frets over not being able to match up with Captain America, and Sam clarifies the reason for this concern: it’s because he wouldn’t want to disappoint everyone. “That’s a heavy burden…it leaves you questioning whether what you have is sufficient,” he notes.

Joaquin doesn’t let those expectations intimidate him. “I feel the same way,” he responds. Sam jokingly mocks him about his “timing” during aerial combat, and later advises him to have his suit prepared once he recovers from his injuries, because “the world needs the Avengers.

Isaiah Bradley is exonerated

Following the unveiling of Stern’s involvement in the attempted assassination of Ross, Isaiah experiences a swift release from prison and is acquitted (a significant reprieve given his previous sentence could have led to capital punishment).

He doesn’t have much free time for us after his release, but he mentioned he has courtside seats with Ruth Bat-Seraph, which means he’ll make a new acquaintance, at least.

One of the MCU’s earliest stars returns

Following the chaos of the Red Hulk incident, I stepped down from my role as president and agreed to serve time at The Raft – that secluded underwater penal facility. To the world, I said, “It’s time for the nation to heal and progress,” speaking to good ol’ Sam.

Towards the close of the movie, Ross encounters an unexpected last moment: Betty drops by, signifying Liv Tyler’s initial appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2008. She flashes a smile and proposes to chat for a while, to which Ross expresses his pleasure.

The ending leaves 1 huge question

Without Ross being president anymore, it’s unclear who the current President of the United States is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as his vice president’s identity remains unknown and was not revealed in Captain America: Brave New World.

As a gamer, I’ve picked up that Bucky’s venturing into politics now. For a moment, he stepped away from his campaign trail for Congress to console Sam following the chaos at Celestial Island. His next appearance will be in Thunderbolts, so perhaps we’ll uncover more then.
