Blake Lively’s legal team says she’s suffered significant financial losses due to what they describe as a damaging and false campaign led by Justin Baldoni, the director of It Ends With Us.
Around the time the movie came out in August 2024, people started whispering about trouble between the actors. However, the conflict didn’t become public until December, when the actress, 38, filed a lawsuit against Baldoni. She claimed he sexually harassed her and created a negative and uncomfortable work environment. She also said he tried to damage her career because they disagreed during filming. This led to a major legal fight, including Baldoni suing the New York Times for $250 million over their reporting, and a $400 million countersuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist, Leslie Sloane. In this countersuit, Baldoni denied the accusations and claimed they were attempting to harm his reputation through false statements and threats.
Although a $400 million lawsuit brought by Baldoni was eventually dismissed in court, Lively’s lawyer claimed his actions caused her significant financial damage, totaling $161 million. This included $49 million in losses for her beauty brand, Blake Brown, $22 million for her drink brands Betty Buzz and Betty Booze, $34 million in damage to her reputation from negative social media responses, and a projected $56 million in lost income from potential acting roles and endorsements, as reported by Variety.
She’s expected to ask for damages three times higher than the initial offer, although the exact amount hasn’t been decided yet. The court case is set to begin on March 9, 2026.
