At long last, Nintendo officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2, offering a sneak peek of the revamped Joy-Con controllers, a fresh Mario Kart title, and other exciting details. However, they also provided a side-by-side comparison to help us visualize the size difference between the latest model and its predecessor, the original Switch system.
On the official website, the two consoles are displayed together, and indeed, the Switch 2 appears larger but is roughly equivalent in size to other handheld devices such as the original Switch or Steam Deck. The bezel seems smaller, thereby expanding the screen area. A recent leak from accessory manufacturer Genki hinted that the Switch 2 could be an inch wider and half an inch taller than the original, with a one-inch increase in screen size. Although the side-by-side comparison on the official site may not accurately depict these specific dimensions, it seems to align roughly with those suggested.
In addition, the trailer emphasized displaying the expanded screen when it emerged from the previous Switch model’s profile. Similarly, as Joy-Cons shift from the older to newer versions, they appear significantly more substantial.
Nintendo is arranging for a Nintendo Direct broadcast on April 2, which will provide additional information.
