Dear X is already becoming a top K-drama of 2025, and even though the show is only halfway finished, the original webtoon’s bleak conclusion suggests what might happen next.
The new TV series follows Baek Ah-jin, played by Kim Yoo-jung, a charismatic but troubled woman with a hidden past. She uses her attractiveness and charm to achieve success, and she’s aided by her devoted childhood friend, Yoon Jun-seo, played by Kim Young-dae, who is determined to support her no matter what.
The next few episodes of “Dear X Part 3” might show Jun-seo realizing Ah-jin is manipulating him. Since the K-drama follows the original webtoon by Vanziun closely, fans can look to the webtoon for hints about future plot developments.
This webtoon shows the full extent of Ah-jin’s scheming and how her story ultimately concludes. However, the TV series has already deviated from the original, and with Vanziun helping to write the script, expect the ending to potentially be very different. Be careful though – major spoilers follow!
How does Dear X end?

The webtoon Dear X ends with Ah-jin losing her popularity, looks, and influence, but she ultimately achieves her main goal: getting revenge on Jun-seo.
So far in the K-drama, we’ve discovered the difficult experiences that shaped Ah-jin and led to her sociopathic tendencies. While her stepbrother, Yoon Jun-seo, and friend, Kim Jae-oh (played by Kim Do-hoon), are determined to support her, they’re unknowingly being manipulated as part of her larger plan.
Throughout her journey, Ah-jin faces numerous bullies, even including her own father, Baek Seon-gyu (Bae Soo-bin). While she initially appears passive, Ah-jin is actually very strategic, often carefully planning her actions over years to achieve her goals.
After finishing school, she cleverly used her boss, Choi Jeong-ho (Kim Ji-hoon), to commit a murder – her own father – and he ultimately took the blame. Even as a teenager, she was capable of ruining people’s lives, as demonstrated by how she destroyed the life of her high school rival, Shim Sung-hee (Kim Yi-kyung).

Ah-jin becomes a successful actress and model, strategically using her connection with idol Heo In-gang to advance her career. However, people from her past reappear, causing trouble, and her friends Jun-seo and Jae-oh come to her rescue again.
Okay, so after episode 6 of ‘Dear X,’ it finally seems like Jun-seo is starting to realize there’s more to Ah-jin than meets the eye – that sweet charm is hiding something! I’m really curious to see how the drama handles what happens next, but I’ve read the webtoon, and let me tell you, things get way darker from here. I’m both excited and a little worried!
When In-gang’s grandmother passed away, Ah-jin left him and publicly revealed video of him losing control and hitting her, destroying his public image. The resulting scandal quickly escalated, leading to In-gang taking his own life. His brother then publicly vilified Ah-jin, labeling her a monster.
Driven to succeed, she begins to focus on Moon Do-hyuk, a rich man who could help her maintain her position. She learns he divorced his previous wife because she was unable to have children, even though he is actually the one with fertility issues.
I’m seriously obsessed with “Dear X”! Seeing Kim You Jung and Kim Young Dae play Ah Jin and Joon Seo is amazing – they totally capture the characters from the WEBTOON! You can watch it now on Viki, and if you love the show, definitely check out the original WEBTOON – it’s fantastic!

Desperate to hold onto Jun-seo, Ah-jin reveals a shocking secret about his father, anticipating it will make him emotionally dependent on her. She then secretly drugs Do-hyuk, goes to Jun-seo’s home under the guise of offering comfort, and initiates a sexual encounter, ultimately becoming pregnant.
Ah-jin goes even further, manipulating the paternity test to convince Do-hyuk he’s the father. Surprisingly, even after discovering the deception, Do-hyuk wants to remain with Ah-jin, admiring her equally cutthroat nature.
After Jun-seo discovers Ah-jin’s true character, he leads the creation of a popular novel adapted into a documentary. This project reveals her wrongdoings and ultimately destroys her public image.
She escapes to Hong Kong with Jae-oh, and they start a bar while raising their child together. However, Ah-jin later leaves both Jae-oh and her daughter to be with a richer, more influential man.
Okay, so this guy’s daughter really didn’t like Ah-jin. Like, seriously hated her. It got so bad she actually pushed Ah-jin down the stairs – a mansion’s stairs, mind you! It totally messed her up, and not just her life. She was known for being beautiful, almost like an angel, and now she’s horribly disfigured. Her looks are ruined forever, and so is her reputation. It’s a really dark turn of events in the story.
Jae-oh shared everything with Jun-seo, then asked if he’d like to meet their child. Jun-seo said he would, and Jae-oh handed him a letter. “Ah-jin asked me to give this to you, if you ever wanted to meet him,” Jae-oh explained.
Ah-jin finalizes her revenge against Jun-seo
At a book signing for his new release, Jun-seo was approached by a young girl who wanted him to sign a copy for her mother. When he asked who it was for, she surprisingly revealed it was Ah-jin.
Still stunned, he signed the book as the girl left. Then Jun-seo understood it had to be her, and he rushed outside, but all he saw was Ah-jin and their daughter walking away.
This is when we learn the contents of Ah-jin’s letter. It says, “If you’re reading this, it means I’ve gotten my revenge.”
I haven’t stopped thinking about you since you threw me into that pit. I’ve been planning how to get even, trying to figure out what would hurt you as much as you hurt me. It feels only right that I get to punish you for what you did, just like you punished me, don’t you think?
Look, if you did what you did because of our daughter, I swear I’ll make you pay just as much. And Jun-seo, if you ever happen to cross paths with her, do not let her find out who you are. I’ve never breathed a word about you to her. As far as she’s concerned, you don’t exist, and honestly, you never will in her life, or mine.

With you, I’ll be a constant presence – in every breath you take, every step you make. You’ll never truly be able to forget me, and you’ll always be left wondering what happened to her.
You’ll never get to tell her you’re her dad, and you’ll spend your whole life wishing you had. That pain will be how I continue to exist within you, always. I’ll never truly leave, Jun-seo – I’ll always be a part of you.
The letter reveals the depth of Ah-jin’s manipulative behavior and how she twists love to hurt others. Her revenge isn’t about physical harm; it’s about causing lasting emotional pain.
I’m really curious to see where the Dear X story goes next, but one thing’s for sure: you do not want to get on Ah-jin’s bad side. Seriously, she’s terrifying when she’s angry!
The third part of Dear X will be available on Viki starting November 20th, and you can also find the full Dear X story on Webtoon.
