Okay, so I was asking about how much content there *is* in Baby Steps, and the developers basically said, ‘Don’t even *try* to do everything!’ Seriously, they warned me that even a dedicated player like me – and I put in some serious hours – would burn out after around 100 hours of gameplay. My legs would definitely give out if I tried to tackle it all!
Baby Steps is now available, and players are discovering its huge, open world with very few directions. While there’s a general path you can follow, the fun comes from wandering off and uncovering hidden secrets – if you can manage to stay alive while doing so!
After playing for around 20 hours, you might start to wonder just how expansive this game truly is. How much stuff is packed into its open world? What challenges are still undiscovered? And, perhaps most importantly, how many hats are left to find?
Okay, so I still don’t have *all* the details, but I managed to chat with the developers and get a better idea of just how massive this game actually is. They gave me some cool insights into what to expect.
How big is Baby Steps?
It’s hard to say definitively, and it might always be this way. “Baby Steps” is unusual because how long it takes to complete can vary greatly depending on your abilities and a bit of chance.
The main story can take anywhere from 20 to 50 hours to complete, depending on the player’s skill. Adding in side quests and optional activities will naturally extend the playtime even further.
During our interview, developer Gabe Cuzzillo jokingly said the game is just incredibly large. He even suggested players shouldn’t attempt to complete every single thing it offers, adding with a laugh, “You shouldn’t do that.”
Cuzzillo estimates it might take around 100 hours to complete, though that depends on your experience level.
Okay, so the guy who made *Getting Over It*-you know, that super frustrating game with the pot?-has a new game called *Baby Steps*. And let me tell you, it’s just as infuriating! You literally control every single step your character takes, and yeah, I’m already getting super mad playing it. Prepare to rage!

What truly sets this game apart is how challenging its harder parts can be. While some obstacles are manageable, others can be incredibly difficult, potentially costing you hours of progress with each failure. Success requires dedication and a real understanding of the game’s unique and sometimes tricky controls.
I remember Bennett Foddy really emphasizing how incredibly challenging the game actually is. He said if you truly understood everything involved, you’d be facing some seriously tough stuff!
We want to give players control over how challenging the experience is. They can choose a relaxed, easy-going playthrough or really dive in and explore every detail. Discovering everything would be incredibly rewarding.
