Andrew Garfield and Jude Law are playing a famous pair of magicians, and a fellow actor on the project promises the movie will stay true to the original story.
John Robert Hoffman created the upcoming Apple TV drama, Wild Things, which tells the story of legendary magicians Siegfried and Roy. Jay Baruchel and Jude Law will portray Roy Horn and Siegfried Fischbacher, respectively, showcasing their decades of success in Las Vegas and the tragic incident that brought their show to an end. The series also features a strong supporting cast including Justin Theroux as Steve Wynn, Brett Gelman, Jessica Madsen, and Justin Bartha.
During an interview with Tatiana Hullender from ScreenRant about the Fallout season 2 finale, Justin Theroux discussed his work on the Apple TV+ series Wild Things. He admitted it’s often tricky knowing what he can reveal about projects, but described Wild Things as “wonderful” and said it was “a pretty faithful biopic.” Theroux also jokingly pointed out the resemblance between his Fallout character, Mr. House, and Wynn, and shared that he really enjoys the scenes he gets to film with both of them.
Now that the show has aired, I can finally talk about my role in Fallout, and I think it’s fantastic. It’s actually quite funny because I’m playing Steve Wynn again – the King of Vegas – so I get to enjoy some luxurious penthouse scenes. I’m really having a great time working on it, and we’re still filming. I’ll be heading back to set in a few days to continue shooting.
Siegfried and Roy, the famous Las Vegas magicians known even from appearances in films like Vegas Vacation and Ocean’s Eleven, are the subject of a new Apple TV drama called Wild Things. This show marks the first time their lives have been portrayed in a biopic. The series is based on Steve Leckert’s podcast of the same name, which detailed their time in Nevada and the dangerous tiger incident that almost cost Roy Horn his life.
The documentary Wild Things is unique as the first true biopic about Siegfried and Roy, and it also marks a new direction for its creator, John Robert Hoffman. While Hoffman is best known for his comedic work – he co-created and ran the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building, earning him six Emmy nominations – he’s following in the footsteps of other comedy creators who’ve successfully transitioned to biographical storytelling, such as Craig Gillespie (director of I, Tonya) and Adam McKay (The Big Short).
While Theroux isn’t revealing many specifics about the show yet, his assurance that it will accurately portray the story of Siegfried and Roy is good news for fans of the famous duo. Before their Las Vegas fame, Siegfried and Roy had a daring past, performing on cruise ships and facing criticism for their use of animals. This rich history could provide the show with additional content beyond the original podcast, giving actors Garfield and Law plenty to work with.
Now that Paul Theroux has confirmed filming on Wild Things is ongoing, it looks like the Apple TV+ series won’t be released for a while. Apple TV+ usually takes several months between finishing production and launching a show, and because this biopic is likely to be a big, cinematic experience, early 2027 seems like a realistic release timeframe.
