“House of the Dragon” has found its Ormund Hightower.
According to exclusive reports, it’s been confirmed that James Norton will be part of the cast for the third season of the HBO series, playing the role of Ormund.
Character summary: Otto, played by Rhys Ifans, is Alicent’s cousin, Gwayne’s cousin as well, and the ruler of Oldtown. Currently, he’s leading the Hightower forces in a march towards King’s Landing to back his family against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).
The character was mentioned in “House of the Dragon” during its second season, yet didn’t make an appearance on screen.
Tom Norton gained significant recognition for his performances in British television series like “Happy Valley” and “Grantchester,” but he’s also appeared in other shows such as “McMafia” and the 2016 adaptation of “War & Peace.” Additionally, he was part of the HBO series “The Nevers” and received a BAFTA nomination for his role in “Happy Valley” in 2015. On the big screen, Norton has featured in films like “Little Women” (2019), “Bob Marley: One Love,” “Nowhere Special,” and “Joy.”
He is represented by The Artists Partnership, WME, and Tapestry London.
It’s worth noting that “House of the Dragon” has been granted another season, extending up to Season 4. This will mark the end of the series. The storyline is derived from George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire and Blood,” which delves into the Targaryen civil war in Westeros, a conflict famously known as The Dance of Dragons, approximately 200 years before the timeline of “Game of Thrones.
The series features actors such as Matt Smith, Cooke, D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Ifans (perhaps Richard Ifans), Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.
Martin collaborated with Ryan Condal in developing the series. Alongside Condal, who was the showrunner for Season 2, and Martin, the team of executive producers includes Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere, and Vince Gerardis. It’s anticipated that filming for Season 3 will commence in the coming months.
