Hono-gurashi no Niwa gameplay flow will include nighttime explorations

I was so excited to get more details on Hono-gurashi no Niwa during Nippon Ichi Software’s March 2026 Untitled// broadcast! The president, Kenzo Saruhashi, went over how the game plays, and it sounds like the nighttime sections are going to be genuinely scary – I can’t wait!

Once the initial story is finished, you’ll begin a daily routine in Kagatsu village. Each morning, you’ll need to tend to your farm – taking care of crops and animals. After that, you’re free to spend the day however you like, whether it’s fishing, hunting, or getting to know the villagers.

Sometimes, the main character will have trouble sleeping, forcing the player to venture out and explore the village at night. While exploring, players might notice strange things happening with the villagers and will occasionally run into frightening yokai. For those who prefer a less scary experience, Nippon Ichi is also adding a ‘Safe Livelihood Mode’ that removes all horror elements.

It will be released in Japan on July 30th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. As of today, NIS America hasn’t announced plans to release an English version.
