Honkai: Star Rail’s Milestone PS5 Update Allegedly Postponed Due to Political Tensions

HoYoverse is known for its reliable updates, making the two-week delay of Honkai: Star Rail’s major version 4.0 update unexpected.

The developer recently announced that the next update, version 3.8, will be tested for eight weeks instead of the usual six.

The company announced today that it aims to improve the player experience when the main character, the Trailblazer, lands on the new planet, Planarcadia.

Players who log in after December 8th will receive 1,000 Stellar Jade (the game’s currency used for obtaining random items) and 10 Fuel as a reward.

The biggest surprise, though, is that Planarcadia wasn’t originally planned as the next area. For months, players anticipated a cyberpunk Japan setting called Benzaitengoku, also known as Edo Star.

The recent delay is because the developer had to completely rework their plans due to political issues between Japan and China. Given the size of these changes and how much effort they require, we understand it’s been a challenging process.

Although we’re still awaiting full details, initial glimpses of Planarcadia seem to reveal a theme park-style location that reuses some existing elements. This suggests HoYoverse has been diligently creating something new ever since adjusting their original vision.

I’m so excited to share that version 3.8 is still on track to launch on December 16th! And get this – we’re finally getting The Dahlia, a new 5-Star character! From what I’ve seen, she looks like she’ll be a fantastic addition to any team that focuses on Breaks.

This feels like a smaller update compared to others, but it will return us to Penacony to finish the story arc that the developers previously announced.

We’re adding a new event centered around Chimera training. Because this update lasts eight weeks, we’re also making some changes to the typical combat events that usually appear and disappear with each update.

Usually, HoYoverse would be giving us hints about version 4.0 by now, but with everything happening internally, we’ll likely have to wait until around Christmas or maybe even the New Year to find out what’s coming.

It’s difficult to believe two weeks is enough time to completely change their plans, but we’ll have to see how the team handles this unusual challenge.
