Honkai: Star Rail Is Gearing Up For Its Third Anniversary Coming With Version 4.2

It’s hard to believe it’s already been three years with the crew of the Astral Express! To celebrate this big milestone for Honkai: Star Rail, HoYoverse is hosting a huge event when Version 4.2, titled “So Laughed the Masses,” arrives. The update will include the usual new characters, events, and story content, but because it also marks the game’s third anniversary, players can look forward to lots of special rewards to celebrate their journey through the stars.

Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.2 Goes Live on April 22, 2026

The recent special program for Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.2 was particularly packed with announcements, and for good reason – the game’s third anniversary is coming up soon!

Let’s start with what’s new in this big update before we get to the fun stuff. We’re adding a new chapter to the main story and two returning characters you can now play as.

The highly anticipated Silver Wolf LV.999 is finally here! She’s evolving beyond her role as a Stellaron Hunter, embracing the Path of the Elation Emanator and using the Imaginary element. Beyond her powerful attacks, she can also save teammates from enemy control, even if she’s not currently in your active team. Silver Wolf LV.999 will be available in the first phase of the update, alongside reruns of Dahlia, Castorice, and Firefly.

In the next update, a new character named Evanescia will join as a physical damage dealer who follows the Path of Elation. She’s designed to deal area-of-effect damage and also boost her allies, making her a strong support, especially alongside other Elation characters. Plus, the Trailblazer will unlock a new form! This new form will use the Path of Elation and Lightning element, delivering powerful attacks with a glowing weapon. The Trailblazer will not only damage enemies but also enhance the abilities of their teammates, acting as a great support character. Finally, this update will bring back Sunday, Tribbie, and Feixiao as playable characters.

When Honkai: Star Rail releases Version 4.2, it will mark three years since the game launched, and the developers are celebrating by giving rewards to all players.

To kick off the celebrations, players can simply log in to receive 20 Special Passes and 1600 Stellar Jade – enough for 30 free pulls! Plus, the popular characters Houhou and Robin will be added to the free exchange catalog, letting you unlock them without spending any resources.

Players who haven’t gotten the characters they want have more options with the Celestial Invitation! Yunli, Argenti, and Silver Wolf are now available. Plus, the game is offering double rewards for topping up in the store, and those rewards are being updated soon.

And for anime fans, here’s one more exciting update: Honkai: Star Rail is getting an animated series! It’s being produced with studio MAPPA, the team behind popular shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. Check out the first concept trailer here.
