DC Comics surprised everyone by announcing a comic book battle between Superman and Homelander from The Boys. Now, they’ve revealed more details about the event, including other exciting crossovers. The special issue will feature characters from Archie Comics, IDW Publishing, and even the Mortal Kombat video game franchise.
The next installment, DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1, will feature heroes and villains battling for the title of King Omega and the power of Darkseid. Because Darkseid’s power can only be taken through force, they’ll compete in a cosmic tournament full of challenges, with members of both the Justice League and Legion of Doom facing off against each other.
A major challenge for the characters will be fighting champions from different universes. DC revealed some cover art in December showing who will be involved. While the fight between Homelander and Superman is confirmed, the other matchups haven’t been officially announced yet.
Who else is fighting in DC K.O.: Boss Battle?
As a huge DC fan, I was thrilled to see DC release a sneak peek – six unlettered pages – from their upcoming ‘DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1’! We already knew Superman would be going head-to-head with Homelander, but now they’ve confirmed some of the other matchups we can expect. It’s getting me so hyped!
- Wonder Woman vs. Red Sonja
- Batwoman (Kate Kane) vs. Vampirella
- Plastic Man and Black Lightning vs. Sub Zero
- Star Sapphire (Carol Ferris) vs. Sabrina the Teenage Witch
- Lex Luthor vs. Samantha Strong from Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees

Most of these matchups have a clear reason behind them. For example, both Red Sonja and Wonder Woman are skilled fighters empowered by a goddess of war. However, a few of the battles seem random. Despite this, writer Jeremy Adams assures us there’s a reason for everything.
Adams praised Patrick Horvath’s creation of the complex and intimidating character, Samantha Strong. He’s thrilled to have her, a serial killer bear from the IDW series ‘Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees,’ go up against Lex Luthor, who is completely unaware of the danger she presents. Having previously written four animated ‘Mortal Kombat’ movies, Adams was eager to expand the Netherrealm universe in comic form. He feels a strong connection to these characters and the passionate fanbase, creators, and overall world of ‘Mortal Kombat’ itself.
DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on February 4, 2026.
